i absolutely believe police should have rules of engagement like that in the US, so maybe insoo was thinking of me..

we're gonna let them have military grade gear, and military type training, then they damn sure at least have military levels of engagement that require them to take fire before firing.

Good post.

So is it okay for an officer to shoot back if the other dude just shoots at the cop once and misses?

Apparently Breaking Bad wasn't that far off when they had somone use a vacuum repair shop with a hidden basement as a cover for a criminal operation. This plot was hatched in the Vac Shack: https://www.cnn.com/2020/10/11/us/mi...lot/index.html

Y'all Qaeda terrorist cell, gathering in Ohio for interstate meeting, also discussed abducting Governor Ralph Northam of Virginia

It's such a wild coincidence that these guys were really focused on two of the governors that Trump hates the most and tweets about the most!

Easily being one of the biggest terrorism threats in the developed world right now.

If Trump causes it? It's a simplistic question that invites simplistic answers. He certainly doesn't help stop it, and many of his words and actions have been massive political victories for groups like these and the networks they exist as a part of. But no, I don't think he is some kind of "Ayatholla" of far-right extremism, but he is certainly a figurehead for many of the people involved. He plays with rhetoric that has serious consequences coming from anyone, but very serious consequences when it comes from the highest office of the US and the foremost political leadership position in the world.
the main mistake in this line of thinking is that these groups are self organized. no they are funded by right wing groups and govt groups and spy groups. the CIA loves this ****. luckbox thinks its the left wing that is doing this but really its the right wing gazillionaires.

A terrorist cell plotted to kidnap and execute an elected governor, and the president of the United States leads a chant of "lock her up!" against... the governor.

That should truly end the discussion about whether Trump actively encourages terrorists, because it doesn't get much more clear than that... unless the demand for evidence is that he drive a lawn tractor around on the White House lawn sporting an ISIS flag.

This is after an admission of guilt and being praised for his cooperation with investigators. It remains to be seen what will be the verdict of other involved parties.

absolutely not. Since the shot missed, it is clearly no longer a present danger to the officer.

If he fired a single shot and missed there is a strong probability that he was either firing into the air or meant it as a warning shot. By itself, it in no way demonstrates an attempt to injure or kill.
