You can't take the very uptick of a graph and claim that. Watch how the yellow line bounces way up and way down.

I did concede that I believe there is an EXTREMELY slight uptick but it's more like .01 Celsius if you read the graph correctly.

I don't understand the statement above so I can't respond to it. I suspect you think you're being smart by being ambiguous, but it's obvious to everyone else that you're just a bit slow, stubborn, and don't like to be shown to be not just wrong, but spewing complete nonsense.
Help me out then I'm slow.

Already did. Go back and re-read my posts. Several times, if you need to.

I respect your engagement.

I'm biased to a side as well and have been trying to do better.

I agree that if the current rate of climate change increase stays the same we're pretty fkd.

I just think I've given a pretty good argument for why it won't.

Agree to disagree.

Uhh, the graph explicitly charts the cumulative impact of the human drivers on climate change. It is the red line in the bottom graph. That shows an impact of somewhere around 1C (technically it's in Fahrenheit and shows a little above 1F but screw working with Fahrenheit). I have no idea what you are looking at that makes you think it's showing only .01C.

Oh my bad I thought you were talking about the top graph.

You just said like 3 posts ago that it's the Earth doing it and humans have very little impact.

I think you're confusing 1st and 2nd derivatives.

The rate of climate change increase doesn't need to increase for us to be ****ed. Only the climate change itself needs to increase for us to be ****ed, and the population doesn't need to increase for that.

Think of it this way - if you crash into a wall at 90mph, you're pretty ****ed. You don't need to be accelerating.

If you take your foot off the pedal do you stay at 90mph or keep accelerating at the same rate?

Bolded is technically the 3rd derivative and is called "jerk", but I know what you meant.

If you take your foot of the pedal you decelerate. In our analogy, that is the population going down or humans taking active measures to prevent the emission of greenhouse gases. The population staying constant and humans taking no active measures is us cruising at 90.

Well that's what I said and you laughed me off.

I said do you think the current climate is an issue.

The science and graphs I've seen supporting climate change initiatives all go with the continuous rate graph where we're all going to burn within the millennia.

You agree that's nonsense right?

No I didn't, I said that anthropogenic (human-caused) interference is already having a significant impact on the climate. On the scale of 10s or 100s of years anthropogenic climate change is a major issue.

However what I did say is that on the scale of billions of years it's irrelevant. A billion years is ~3,000x longer than humans have even existed and ~10,000,000x longer than we've been burning fossil fuels on a scale to impact the climate. What happens over the course of a few decades or centuries is meaningless on this scale.

No, I disagree, because I am not politically biased in this matter and I defer to the scientists who have spent a lifetime building a career in this field. If you're serious about learning more on this topic, I have a post somewhere around here I can probably still find where I linked some materials from reputable sites including NASA IIRC for further reading for another poster who was genuinely curious.

But we're spiking in like a 100 standard deviation degree compared to human history.

You have to acknowledge that.

This spike is not sustainable to continue.

We're going to go back to the extremely slight increase that kills us in 100 billion years like I said in my very first post.

And no, this isn't what you said. What you said was tantamount to "if the population plateaus, climate change ceases to be a problem". Which couldn't be more wrong.

I've seen lefty "Professors" say we're all gonna die today, in 10 years, in 50 years.

Most of these are still accepted among the "intellectual" community because certain conspiracies are OK and certain ones aren't.

Bullshit I can guess everything about you.

You hate Trump
You hate guns
You're white
You're privileged
You're pro-choice
You're pro-drugs
You're university educated
You don't like Capitalism
You are at least neutral about Communism
You've never played a competitive sport in your life
Girls don't like you

How many did I get right?

Sure. So, go read up on the reputable predictions on what is actually going to happen within the next 50 years instead of strawmanning the most extreme views.

It's already happening, by the way. The incidence and severity of extreme weather events has been increasing for some time, and almost every year is setting record highs for maximum and average temperatures in a lot of places around the world. You really have to have your head in the sand to think that climate change is not going to have a measurable impact within your lifetime, when it literally already has.

No, I wouldn't even count professional pool as a sport.

At least in the way I meant it in the post.
