Countless similar videos are shared daily on social media by young and not-so-young people partying in Finland and all over the world. But the leak has triggered a debate among Finns about what level of reveling is appropriate for a prime minister, especially considering neighboring Russia’s attack on Ukraine, which prompted long-neutral Finland and Sweden to apply for NATO membership.

Marin, who leads the center-left Social Democratic Party, has faced a barrage of questions about the party: Were there drugs? Alcohol? Was she working or on summer vacation? Was the prime minister sober enough to handle an emergency had one arisen?...

She also acknowledged that she and her friends celebrated in a “boisterous way” and that alcohol — but, to her knowledge, no drugs — was involved. She said Friday that she took a drug test to put an end to speculation about illegal substances.

I understand the security concerns, but the behavior doesn't bother me at all. Being a head of state is stressful. Normal people need to relax with friends sometimes. It's hard to exercise good judgment unless you turn the world off occasionally.

For me personally, if you push a law or rule on to others, that you disregard yourself that is a huge betrayal and abuse of power.

I always refer to the Eliot Spitzer case, where he was heavy handed prosecuting John's for prostitution, while at the same time seeking out prostitutes for service for himself. Generally speaking I would be against any prosecution of normal prostitution but in Spitzer's case, I think he should get the absolute maximum punishment the law allows for as his involves 'abuse of power', that should be considered.

While she should not have to do either, I understand why she did.

She made a huge breakthru, even for European standards, with her age/sex combo, but she has not yet faced a vote to earn that role. I doubt she loses any support in apologizing and drug testing and amongst those who may have already been unsure about a person so young in power, she may gain some support.

People did make videos (or take pics) and leak them. Otherwise he might have got away with lying about being in the toilet at the time.

I wish she was our president.
