Actually they care more about power and maintaining it, which is a big reason why they do not actually try to fix or reverse prior GOP gains. They just 'hold the line' as I say, and then when the GOP they shift it further right, the Dems cry 'elect us to fix and stop it' and then get elected and just 'hold the new line'.
Perfect proof of that is Louis DeJoy and the USPS. They are leaving him in place, and all he has to do is work more quietly for now, and then when another GOP admin is in he can go back on the attack and start dismantling again. The Dems will then cry 'elect us to save USPS' while ignoring they had every bit of power to stop him and reverse things and did nothing.
A digression but a necessary example of just how hollow and meaningless these issues are to Dem politicians.
