The problem of automation means that any growth increasingly benefits fewer people disproportionally. If we want democracy to survive then we need to reinvent wealth distribution.

This is solvable because automation also means humanity is getting increasingly wealthy. Unfortuanlty the left seems far more interested in explainign why they have to give up.

I haven't mentioned climate change but if we dont get on top of that fast then extremism is more or less baked in whatever else we do.

I dont agree with that at all.

This is a really good example of where libertarianism fails. As important as individual rights are , if everyone is atomized they cannot stand up to larger forces in capitalist society.

I was speaking of the 'left' side of the political spectrum. So in America, the Dems'.

They care far more about enriching themselves and their donors than making any real change.

Actually they care more about power and maintaining it, which is a big reason why they do not actually try to fix or reverse prior GOP gains. They just 'hold the line' as I say, and then when the GOP they shift it further right, the Dems cry 'elect us to fix and stop it' and then get elected and just 'hold the new line'.


Perfect proof of that is Louis DeJoy and the USPS. They are leaving him in place, and all he has to do is work more quietly for now, and then when another GOP admin is in he can go back on the attack and start dismantling again. The Dems will then cry 'elect us to save USPS' while ignoring they had every bit of power to stop him and reverse things and did nothing.

A digression but a necessary example of just how hollow and meaningless these issues are to Dem politicians.

I know it is a derail but I absolutely want those in the US who still believe that US Dem's are, in any way earnest, and not just planting footballs to snatch them away, to really focus on Louis Dejoy.

They screamed bloody murder about him destroying USPS. That they needed to be voted in to get rid of him and fix his issues. Biden gets in, takes full control of the Board and puts in 2 Manchin types who 'support DeJoy generally, and who do not support big change' which means the USPS board will not be able to get rid of DeJoy. He will go mostly quiet during the Dem reign but ramp up the destruction of USPS as soon as another GOp reign begins. At that time the Dems will point and scream 'look how bad he is and what he is doing' 'vote us in to stop him'.

It is absolutely shameful. Give the Dem's true power, like they now have over USPS and they do nothing with it. Shameful.
