Rent a car because yours is in the shop, only to find out that repairs were much more expensive than you thought? No problem, just keep the rental car and tell the company to, "Adapt or die."

Ever wanted a sweet bouncy house for your kids to play on but don't have the $3k to buy one new? No problem, just rent it for the weekend from a party goods purveyor and then simply refuse to return it.

"Adapt or die, Bouncyman."

Hypocrisy indeed.
Amazingly, every other business in America manages to operate with customers that are occasionally a hassle. Somehow it’s the landlords that constantly scream and yell about needing to lock up their customers.

Of course it applies to the "unwelcome guests"

Go beat up some more straw men...

Theft and those gaming any particular system comes with the territory. You are a hypocrite to complain about that

Adapt or die means you manage a profit amidst those dilemmas or you gtfo so a newer, more competent steward of capital comes in

Same as it ever was

Trolly, go home, you're drunk. Nobody has suggested incarceration.

TD, I didn't expect you to double down on your endorsement of theft, but here we are. I guess you win on grounds of insanity.

I hope your tenants never see this post, or we're going to find out just how competent a steward of capital you are.

Oh right, you’re merely hyped to have the cops throw people out on the street.

“Slumlord” just sounds unpleasant, “steward of capital” is the preferred title.

Trolly, of course, knows that you never suggested incarceration. But he's a serial liar, so we just have to put up with his lies since the Mods are kewl with his lying for some reason.

Nah. You welcomed them into your rental property. Next time use better judgment.

I think Teflon allowing poor people to stay rent free is wonderful! Such kindness "blows my mind" in a good way!

Since you don't know me personally, you have no idea to what extent (if any) I live up to Christian principles.

What’s the end game here? Cases have exploded since the extension and if the scientists didn’t think it was safe to evict before what makes anyone think the Covid situation will be better in October.

What about the landlords who are done with their delinquent tenants, do not choose to accept rental assistance that requires them to keep the tenant, and just want them out? What does the Covid situation have to look like for you to say ‘ok those people have to leave ’? Or will the CDC be assigning permanent tenants?

Why doesn’t the CDC ban vacations to Florida or Texas? Also stop letting these Petri dish people leave their states to roam the country freely spreading their ****. That would have been a lot more effective in containing the spread of Covid than the moratorium. Ban Florida and Texas for a month or two. Actually why doesn’t the CDC ban all vacations? There would definitely less Covid with no vacations.

Just like there’d be less Covid with no evictions.

If the goal is to stop the spread of Covid, and you have the power to stop the housing market, why not go for it CDC. Let it all hang out.

Why couldn’t the CDC have canceled the election? There’s no way so many people lined up close together to vote was safe. How would you have felt if the CDC said our positivity rate had to hit 2% or lower for us to have our election. Get involved in my company’s return to office plan. I’m safer doing one day a week instead of three. Make me safe cdc.

I don’t know how someone can see the corruption of the FDA with that Alzheimer’s drug and then think of their cousins at the CDC who couldn’t make a virus test and think ‘I want them in charge of everything’

No one wants that. You just like the policy outcome here. And your making policy not in Congress with the printing press but on the backs of your fellow citizens.

A guy lost his job in February because of long Covid symptoms. No disability checks yet. He can’t afford his mortgage. But he owns a second home he rents out. That mortgage is smaller, and he can afford it. But the tenant stopped paying rent months ago.

Pick me a winner CDC. Decide in Atlanta who gets to be homeless.

Wrong guy to be poster child for this complaint as he stands in front of his private jet complaining about reduced profits.

Many more sympathetic landlords to feature

I'm a landlord with 24 properties. We're suffering during Biden's eviction ban, too, and no one is helping

I have offered room free of charge in my own personal home to strangers before. I have offered room in my own personal home for a friend who was struggling with alcoholism. Free of charge. I have let others stay a day or two because they asked, in order to escape less than ideal living situations. Am I a saint? No. Am I naive? Arguably, but I don't just unlock my door and let people squat at will. You see suffering, you want to help, and you can. So you help...I've said no before and I've certainly had to cut people off, even tell them to go **** themselves if I feel they deserve it

I don't know why you try so hard to make things as if I'm all about giving away free **** or am incapable of having the nuance to discern those who abdicate personal responsibility and those who don't. Not everyone is interested in gaming the system or screwing over others. Some people actually need ****ing help. Like I said, you can't save everyone...But you can try

I may be an agnostic, but was raised Catholic and do like some of the tenets of Jesus Christ, like when struck in the face w violence, turn the other cheek and the story of The Widow's Offering. Dunno the bible like that, but it's Mark 12:41-44

I dunno, sometimes you align with more right leaning stances that I'm not so sure are really in line with Christian principles

Isn't Jesus basically a lefty?

Jesus commanded His followers to be doing good works continually.

About all Jesus Himself said about civil authorities is that we are to obey those in charge (e.g. pay taxes).
