Lol clicked on that and seen BGP's comment on Hostel potentially desensitising people and had to manfully refrain from answering and resurrecting the thread.

Bots don't make so many illogical pivots that they end up contradicting themselves.

I mean teacher did say that.

People doing thing for the wrong reasons, like the color of people’s skin or their hair type, is often racism.

So I admit to not reading the whole thread but my favorite part is when Bobo says "I can't believe OP is still getting serious replies," and here we are coming up on a year later and debating whether alcohol or cocaine is more dangerous.

PointlessWords is a MASTER.

If it is 0%, then there is little drawback to prescribing painkillers en masse. The number is somewhere in between, which is why this gets more complicated than "nobody should take more than a few pills."

The thought that because people supposedly don't die from pain, therefore it is just fine to allow somebody to live with pain rather than prescribe a medication that would alleviate that pain, is a bizarre take for many reasons.
I don't know the percentage, but I know we have had a crisis with addictive drugs being pushed by a major pharmaceutical company, which caused lots of patients (and even some doctors) to become addicted. There was a big court case about it, maybe you heard about that.
Sounds good enough proof to be that they were being overprescribed by a lot.

And my understanding is that pretty much everyone who takes opiates for a good period of time becomes addicted. There aren't that many casual heroin or fentanyl users that I know of.

It’s not a debate. Data shows less than 10k cocaine deaths a year. Hundreds of thousands die from alcohol

Oh, we're back to you pretending the fact that they're not used at equal rates is somehow not relevant to judging the number of deaths?

Also, only 140k die from alcohol each year in the US. That's not hundreds of thousands. And it's not necessarily deaths that are exclusively from alcohol, whereas the deaths from cocaine that you're counting are exclusively from cocaine.

PW, at the very best, taking this post at face value without all of the horseshit before, this post isnt far off from saying that millions die each year from old age. It isn't that simple for you to make that statement as a basis of anything.

Ganstaman, don't you know that more people die of causes related to obesity than to either of those?

Clearly, food is more dangerous than cocaine! I'm going to start my cocaine diet tomorrow.

That chart doesn't even say what the X axis is.

It does imply that it was correct to have harsher penalties for crack than for regular cocaine though.

Lots more people use MJ. This isn't ranked by harm per number of users, which apparently some people think doesn't matter.
