Bryce have you ever wrote to anyone in prison? I kind of really want to!

Exactly what does one do to become a "highly respected librarian" while in prison? Show up for work every day? Keep all the books neat and in order? Promptly send out notices when books have been checked out too long?

I mean people like you who want to forcibly sterilize undesirables because you apparently didn't pay attention the last time people tried doing eugenics.

My impression is chillrob wants to completely eliminate the entire human species and something thinks it's not murder or genocide. Unless I just can't read so good and am misunderstanding, it's literally Darth Vader death star type ****.

Yes. I have written letters to Anna Sorokin. and to local jail to a misguided friend as encouragement- he was serving 6 months in jail for a small amount of pot possession.

Those are just some of the reasons. She also has excellent communication skills and taste in art.

I want a pen pal imo. I've been thinking about writing Alyssa for quite some time now. I've started thinking it might be interesting to write to BTK ... but there's open investigations involving him now, so maybe that's not a good idea.

Just imagine if you sent BTK a letter and he started sending you puzzles and ****. Wouldn't that be ****ing awesome?!?!

The US definitely has many systemic problems with its system of incarceration. Amongst these problems are which crimes are subject to incarceration, for how long, and disproportionate application of laws and punishments to certain demographics.

All that being said, I think prison abolitionists (or, for that matter, even those against life without parole sentences) should visit a maximum security prison, look at the charge sheets and details of the crimes of some of the inmates, (try to) talk to those inmates, and then make the decision whether they want those people living next door to them some day. Maybe spend a night as one of their cellmates for good measure.

I can guarantee you that not a single person who has ever actually been to prison thinks that either prisons or LWOP sentences should be abolished, and there is a very good reason for that.

This stuff goes through an approval process where you could potentially get in trouble and/ or they don't get the mail. Most often they do get your mail after an indeterminate delay.

False

The other 2 sentences are good though.

You know someone who has been to a max security prison and is against LWOP sentences altogether?

I should have qualified it as max security, although I figured it'd be obvious from context.

Fair enough. Ok, the vast majority then, for sure.

Women's prisons don't really count, they tend to not really commit crimes that are nearly as heinous as those of men.

There is a big difference to someone never getting parole and someone being sentenced to life without parole

The thing you need to measure has either zero or nonzero length. Doubt you need callipers, you can do this one by eye.
