I've seen a couple of videos that were cringe worthy wrt shaming the white folk and just heard a 20 something tell me he had to sit through a talk like that in middle school. To the extend that goes on it's perfectly valid to challenge it. No reason to go out of your way to do more harm than good imo.

But....can someone please tell my how race is spoken of in a math class ?

I find this rather dubious.

Why would CRT be in a math book, and what does that look like exactly?

In math education, we often try to make the mathematics relevant for the lives of students, to help them reason mathematically about issues of relevance to them. So if you are learning about statistics, for instance, you might see actual data sets, where some measure is broken out by different racial groups. That this is “critical race theory” is largely some imagined bogeyman of the right, but math textbooks nevertheless are not completely isolated from social issues and if one has strong political opinions about say not exposing students to any evidence about racial disparities, then a dataset that shows this in a math textbook can find itself banned by republicans.

There is a twitter thread, that if you believe the source may demonstrate some math questions with 'an ax to grind' getting into the course material. Not CRT stuff, but as you know the right labels everything CRT.

And if you click thru the links you end up here.

My kids math book had little blurbs on the history of some of the topics presented. So if they mention base 10 positional notation with a true 0 originated in India and was transmitted to Europe by Arabic speaking traders that might be offensive and seen as CRT to some.

Do the math texts show "actual data sets" that show that some ethnic groups have higher average IQ's than other ethnic groups?

CRT has faced allegations of anti Semitism and anti Asian racism. Do you know If there's any merit to the allegations? Is it true CRT considers Asian Americans as "white adjacent"? Or are these claims baseless?
