Covid-19 Discussion Covid-19 Discussion

Solving a major national crisis is something that the Republicans simply aren't interested in doing. I guess you can throw COVID onto the same pile as obesity, opioid crisis, mass shootings, etc.

Florida obviously gets visitors from outside the state, even during a pandemic. But my guess is that a higher than usual percentage of visitors are from geographically proximate states (AL, MS, GA, LA) than is usually the case.
Look, we could all wait around a while for some egghead to pull flight data and occupancy numbers and put together some fancy schmancy chart that shows just how much people travel from NY to FL, and how it compared this year to other years. BUT - we all know that the conclusion is just going to be some politically biased claptrap.

The fact of the matter is that EVERYONE knows that people go from NY to FL all the time. Heck, my Aunt Joan does it every year like clockwork. There's even a word for it - ever heard of a SNOWBIRD. Doesn't take anything more than just plain old fashioned common sense to know that the pandemic in Florida was almost entirely caused by CUOMO not barring people from leaving his virus riddled state. Worse than that he was threatening smart governors who were banning New Yorkers!!

And, not trying to get political about it, but Cuomo is a dem (probably about as left wing as they come, really), and most people in NYC are dems. So, once again this is a DEMOCRATIC DISEASE. Couldn't have done anything to stop it.

Despite BLM protests and people acting in contrary to government advice, no hospitals are yet overwhelmed.

I mean, I'm never going to convince you with facts, and you're never going to provide any, but yes, that's how it works. Lots of places with mass protests aren't seeing big spikes. It's not like someone can reasonably claim that CHOP is responsible for big increase in cases in Florida. King county, Washington, is at 10000-some total, historical cases today, and that's despite CHOP, and despite being one of the first hit places in the country. Maricopa county, AZ, despite not being the site of major protests, and despite not being hit all that early, is at over 50k total cases. NYC, despite having mass protests, is still trending down. Instead, the unifying factor in the places blowing up is OPEN FOR BIDNESSSSSSS. LA county, CA, opened up bars and restaurants far earlier than much of the state, and they are paying the price in a big way.

Did he even actually work in academic research? I was pretty sure he just reads about it in the Daily Mail.

Wookie, Masks work

6 feet apart works.

End of story.

Want to protest?

Want to go to Trump rally?

Masks and 6 feet. Come on. It's not complicated.

Masks work mostly

Trump bans both masking and 6' at his rallies. Don't go to his rallies.

Houston and Phoenix hospitals are ****ed right now, and we're just getting started. New York was locked down for 2-3 weeks PRIOR to seeing daily case numbers like we're seeing it TX, AZ, and FL right now, and those states have not locked down to the degree that NY did. We are in for 2-3 months of hell if the hotspot sites lock down right now, and we know they all won't.

yeah, nothing is overwhelmed.

They all have the ability to go 25-40% above capactity without a problem.

But, nothing has been stresseed as far as hospital system.

Trump never bans a mask. Where did he ban a mask?

But, yeah, masks and 6 feet apart work.

All it takes to slow the spread, and better hand washing.

Like I told you all the time! Singapore has been doing this naturally for decades!

also, hydrochloquine worked. Yeah.

Yup. He was right. It worked. Drastically reduced death and severe outbreak. **** the FDA over that.

No, it didn't. The steroid looks like it works, though.

LOL. You're the liar. Cases going up for sure. Hospitals are fine.

600,000 Americans are going to die of this. No one is going to die because of access to treatment.

THEY ALREADY HAVE. It happened in NYC, where people who "weren't all that bad" were sent home to make room for the more obviously bad, and then the people sent home died.

It is absolutely monstrous to consider 600,000 Americans dead from this as both inevitable and unworrying when the vast majority of the world can and will avoid death rates half that bad.
07-04-2020 , 12:27 AM
600,000 Americans were always going to die of this.

Always said that number.

It's sad. It's awful.

That's the number regardless without a vaccine.

Stop, NYC was first wave where Cuome sent sick people to nursing homes to kill them. Worst decision ever.

Multiple states are choosing to be worse than New York.

If I can name 5 countries that will not have more that 1500 deaths per million population by Jan 1, 2021, will you self-ban?

Nope. Flattening the curve was all about protecting the hospital system.

Cuomo infected old folds homes that never needed to be exposed.

Houston may have to play whack a mole, but nationally, no hospital system is being overwhelmed.

If we really didn't think 600,000 Americans were going to die of this terrible Kung FLU we were kidding ourselves.

If you can prove BLM protests didn't contribute, even though the Mayor of LA said they did, I will consider it.

Always said opening doesn't mean large gatherings.
