Which Country Would You Want To Be Reincarnated Into?? Which Country Would You Want To Be Reincarnated Into??

Netherlands.

Short version: being born in Netherlands means a life of economic and social stability in one of the most beautiful countries in the world with the option to treat the entire developed world as your oyster.

Economic security: almost no variance in terms of having all the tools to fit into the middle class of the developed world with very few traps.
Virtually zero poverty,
relatively small marginalized population,
high QoL cities,
and even marginalized populations have access to world class education

Additional factors:
Global competitive advantage: Tall, white, native English (and probably some other languages) speaking ability, one of the best passports in the world (basically, I could enjoy the socialist benefits of Netherlands growing up then go to US/UK to make the big bucks if I wanted to)
Safety: low crime and virtually no chance of getting drafted into a war.
Good climate: relativelyl temperate while still having 4 clear seasons

Downside:
Dutch food is... what even is "Dutch" food?

Less serious but potentially better answers: Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, and perhaps a few other weird glorified tax haven city states where you enjoy a lot of the advantages of globalized economy while having a much higher probability of being the heir of a large 8+ figure (in USD) fortune.

Yes, as a former international tax consultant that made decks for people who wanted to know where to immigrate to, I spent a whole lot of time thinking about this.

I think the better question is whether you'd be willing to live your life where you were born in, let's say, the 1940s - so not where, but when.

Yes, you'd be without medical advances and a lot of social progress, but people actually could afford things, owned nice homes, had face to face interactions and got involved in their communities, were able to take vacations from work that amounted to actual vacations, I could go on and on. And you wouldn't know what modern comforts you'd be missing out on, since they wouldn't have been invented yet. I would snap accept that. No way that isn't a net positive compared to the lives those of us born even 20 years later - and thereafter - are living.

This is only a good deal for one segment of the population. A bunch of this stuff you could still have today outside the US.

Or even better - you can have USA, but you have to flip a coin - heads, you get to be a white guy and go to Manhattan, tails, you get to be a black guy and go to rural Alabama. Or, you can still pick any other country you want, and your race will be assigned randomly. Would you still say USA and take the flip?

I think I might have spotted a subtle flaw in one of your implicit premises there.

As long as it's modern times, yes.

Where's chez ITT? Surprised he didn't say "Narnia", since he's so far in the closet, he's there already.
