Trump has already abandoned his Capitol Hill terrorist. I doubt he could get a 1000 supporters to attack an empty Popcorn stand at this point.
Not that he would do it, but if Trump got a message out tonight that the country could be saved if people showed up Friday with guns in DC, there would be at least 50k people try to go.

You very clearly misunderstand how invested people get into the things they want to believe. Once they start down that path, most people will go through any mental gymnastics necessary to justify any event. Very little of Trump's following has peeled off due to this.

I watched a close friend who is quite normal and successful with his own business, start out in 2016 saying he was just voting for Trump to troll America and F Hillary, and you know what that is fine. But four years later he is just spewing Fox talking points and calling covid the flu and when I dropped a 'What happened to you lost, get over it?" on him last weekend he self-combusted into a rage of 'the election was rigged, I will never call Biden the president, Trump was robbed by the libruls, fake news everything" and it is just said that unless he snaps out of it I will need to step away and move on.

They are in a cult.
Obviously I don't know anything about your friend, but it's my experience that most people who found a way to vote for Trump in 2016 already at least sorta believed all the "MSM is fake news" junk, they just didn't necessarily feel it was socially acceptable to admit it.

Well, it's been vastly diminished thanks to Trump. Or at least it's influence and standing in the world has been vastly diminished.
And I think that his endgame was, and I'm speculating here, to make America more like a country like Russia. I'm convinced if he won the election, he would have dismantled the American form of government as we've known it for over 200 years.

Nor should they, as predicit represented a pretty small percentage of income in the end to those who knew what they were doing in 2020, though it was more fun money to be had given the silly Trumpderps in the comments section there.

Point is, you are unhappy with your disposable Trumpderp companion, and he/she/whatever is clearly not satisfied and the way for Trumpderps like that to get the happiness they need is to hurl their money behind their beliefs, so in a sense it is your duty, if this person is a friend of yours of some sort, to help him or her get to that promised land. It really is win/win in the end.

MAGA is sort of like a drunk. When someone gets drunk to the point where they lose control of their inhibitions, their true character starts to come out. Don't make the mistake that many make with drunks! 'Oh, he didn't mean it, he was drunk '. No, that's his true character.
That's what Trump was and is, the drug, so to speak, that brought the true character of these people out.

The thing that gets ignored in all the insanity is what Romney said in his speech... there is no commission or investigation that would ever satisfy Trump's cult that the election was legitimate. This is obviously 100% true but it also illustrates the fact that Cruz, Hawley, and all the rest had no interest in "getting to the bottom of people's concerns and giving them confidence in our electoral process".

Cruz, Hawley, etc. are almost - not quite - as guilty of incitement as is Trump. They all fanned the flames of a bunch of armed, violent conspiracy lunatics. They should ALL be removed from office.

Trump has been on TV all day selling out the last group of idiots. I doubt Trump could muster 10,000 idiots to attack the Capitol again. And none of the idiots who were just in Washington are gonna fall for his fake tough guy rhetoric again.

Trump going forward is a paper tiger.

We are a long way from getting back to normal. It's going to be a struggle.
Liberals too have to be careful of their rhetoric. Which I'm guilty of myself often enough.
But I said it before, and I'll say it again. No lessons will be learned by MAGA if they are not held accountable.

Things get back to "normal" much quicker than anticipated. Reality is - with Trump done and gone the drama will just naturally drop. I agree that they should be held accountable, but never underestimate how much humanity moves on in a quick manner.

Trump is basically a nothing at this point, but a small section of those morons will need to believe whatever it is they need to believe, and they do not need Trump for that. There will not be an equivalent capital crazy thing like we saw last week again, but a few lone or small group wackos can certainly do some press worth things if they want. Trump did help energize them, even if they were on their path with or without Trump.

I agree with the drunk comment and the paper tiger comment. They are also like the cult that was following the comet ... in a total make-believe mindset. The big "but" in all this I think is that, like their leader, their bark is going to be much worse than their bite. If they were serious, not just crazed, they could have had it. They were uncontested and in the capitol building. They have lots of ex military and police in their midst. They could have killed hundreds at least and started a real uprising instead of just a riot. But that's not what they are. They are fake insurrectionists just like their leader is a fake tough guy and fake president. There isn't going to be any society shaking trouble going forward. Since many of his voters are old, several million hopefully will die between election cycles. They're dodo birds and they know it. I'm sure there will be isolated terrorist strikes, but its fake as a $3 bill as an insurrection.

Hard disagree. I strongly believe the majority of those who were just in DC would go again if they had the opportunity.

You really, really don't understand the mindset of these people. There is NOTHING they cannot rationalize. There are, literally, MILLIONS of people who believe ANTIFA was actually behind it. I am not exaggerating.

Well, I hope you guys are right and I'm maybe overreacting.

Meanwhile, FBI arrests are coming fast and furious.
I hope they lock up as many as possible.
Lock them up!!

There's a guy who hardly gets any mention who is just as guilty as anybody else.
One of the most loathsome humans to ever call himself an American.
Alex Jones. When will this guy ever be held accountable for all the damage he's done?

Justice for the populist. Right. You know how you sound?
Exactly like those communist terrorists from fifty years ago.
Just answer one question. Do you condone the storming of the Capitol on January 6?
Yes or no.

Citing a Fox News "journalist" is never going to convince those who are not already among the faithful.

Well, you're not going to convince anyone of your political views with your arguments except, like Toronto said, the faithful.
And I'm now convinced no one is going to convince you otherwise either. But I'm glad you don't condone violence.
