We all, whether CEOs or janitors, strive for approbation. We feel, viscerally, that our very existence is defined by the impressions we leave upon others, even when we know intellectually that this is not the case.
Sometimes, we make what we think is a good post, and it gets few likes. Other times, we make a bad post, and it gets many likes. It's almost like there is no YouTube-like algorithm to get you mother****ers into line.
So, all that having been said, I'm gonna need one like per post per week from every single one of yous. If anyone has a problem with that, I refer you to the imortal words of Joey The Mafia Corleone: "the dental plan wasn't for you to draw on, it was for you to keep your teef".
Roc, vouch for me here. Everyone thinks extortionists are thugs. They are, at a low level. At a high level, they are very much the guy you see in the Wall Street Uniform (in London, we call that "City Uniform") boy in a stuffed suit. Anyone who is actually a professional can tell them apart.
But these boys make millions. A week. Roc can also attest to this.
I guess, even if you're totally materialistic, it's a trade-off ,if you want to take a seriously nonzero chance of being shot in the street, or doing life without (and whatever morals you had to compromise to get there). I'm not convinced, that for all even its glitz and glamour in the 60s-80s, the ganster lifestyle is worth it.
Everyone wants to get out in time. All the drug dealers whose names you've never heard of are the ones who did.
