"Civilian victims of mutilation by Free State authorities"

"A missionary points to the severed hand of a Congolese villager. Severed hands were "the most potent symbol of colonial brutality" in the Congo.[34]"

so much for colonies didnt have any impact on africa...

we use it as our goldmine, taking out all resources still, no doubt about that.

Washoe, what's your point?

If we want to discuss crazy African history, my favorite character is General Butt Naked: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Butt_Naked

my point was actually that montreal said colonies didnt have any impact on africas development. I think the opposite is the case and many agree.

to bobo: you think this belongs in the history section, I disagree because A) there have been similar posts in the pasts here and B) colonies had an impact that affects the current time, there are still the same colonies and they rule the land to this day taking out all the resources. you had apartheid if you can remember not too long ago. politics, as we see it now with refugees sinking on ships trying to escape this mess and companies expoiting all the resources making this mess to begin with. so yeah, very much a politcial issue imo that haunts us in the present.

With a link for you to post in a forum nobody posts in, nor reads, and a single reference to "Butt Naked" - seems this thread about your latest rabbit hole is actually one of your better ones in terms of a response. Keep up the good work!

All the best.

I assume you mean the poster Montrealcorp? If so, you should be responding to his post, not starting a new thread, and especially one that makes no mention of him. How on earth would anyone know your point was to respond to a poster you've never mentioned?

It very much could be a post relevant to this forum, had your post been centered on something happening today. Instead, it was a couple quotes from a Wiki article about a historical event, and a link to said page, followed by a very non-specific reference to using Africa's resources today.

Had you responded directly to Montrealcorp's post, the relevance to this forum would likely have been obvious. Had you started your post by talking in more detail about what's going on in Africa today, and then provided your historical references (even the reverse order could have worked with more info), then the relevance to this forum would likely have been obvious. The way you posted it, you just left everyone confused as to why you were posting it here.

All that said, yes, after your clarification I agree with what I believe is your overarching point about the effect on today's world.

yes I did mean Montreal, the poster.
I call him Montreal I hope that's fine by him.

I agree with you that it might have been more appropriate to find his post which I did now:

and what he posted there was terribly wrong. I'm not looking to out him or anything but nothing is trivial about this.

look what we get here in every news outlet today, all day: yesterday a refugee from Eritrea killed a 14 year old girl and wounded another one at 7:30 am on her way to school. we get news like that regularity now about refugees and we never had stuff like this happen here before. and it creates racism and ignorance imo.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world...39f_story.html

here this is what I found just by searching for this article, a very similar case: a a refugee from Eritrea pushed a 9 year old boy in front of a train an killed him recently.
https://www.reuters.com/article/germ...-idUSL8N24V5XJ

so I'm not a racist I had a friend from Eritrea. this stuff is sad but it is because we made a mess out of their countries. many people there are traumatized and have to flee wars that we are responsible of.

anyways if you like move all of this into the lolCanada thread where Montreal originally posted this nonsense it's fine. I figured he reads it anyways here. but it was inconsiderate of myself to make a thread about it, I agree.

oh and my friend from Eritrea had his foot blown off because of a mine. Eritrea is constantly at war and he was a soldier there. I carried his crutches. nothing is trivial about this whatsoever.

Maybe because, as I already mentioned, you didn't respond to his post and instead started a new thread?

I don't mod this forum, but you could always report your post and make that request. But I don't think that would really help, as the posts would just be sorted into chronological order in that thread, so people aren't likely to notice them. If it's important to you that MontrealCorp sees your reply, I'd suggest copying your post from here, and replying to him in that thread.
