The historical figures whose names should most certainly not be honored are those who are being honored BECAUSE of their racist stances.

But there is one possible exception. Partly due to the Fundamental Theorem of Poker. Edmund Pettis. The bridge that was named after him by racist Alabamians would lose some of its iconicness if the name was changed. Many black people want the name to remain and Edmund himself would likely wish his name was removed. If so the FTOP would suggest it shouldn't be.

If you renamed it the Selma bridge most people would recognize it too.

Fast, as in two decades after Georgia and Alabama fast?

Hundreds of armed right-wingers showed up at Gettysburg to stop Antifa from burning American flags on Independence Day

Quote:
“Let’s get together and burn flags in protest of thugs and animals in blue,” the anonymous person behind a Facebook page called Left Behind USA wrote in mid-June. There would be antifa face paint, the person wrote, and organizers would “be giving away free small flags to children to safely throw into the fire.”

As word spread, self-proclaimed militias, bikers, skinheads and far-right groups from outside the state issued a call to action, pledging in online videos and posts to come to Gettysburg to protect the Civil War monuments and the nation’s flag from desecration. Some said they would bring firearms and use force if necessary.
"Use force if necessary" to...stop constitutionally protected speech?

Obviously the big problem for them was, they fell for a hoax.

The Arc de Triomphe was commissioned 1806 by Napoleon after the victory at Austerlitz. Like Most statues and monuments throughout history, they are erected by the the ruling government to commerotae a significant victory or event.
So what are the Confederate monuments and statues then?
By whom were they commissioned and built?
Are they not nothing more than propaganda ande revisionist history?
They don't represent American heritage. They are an attemp to distort it.
They should have never been put up in the first place.

In many cases the Confederate statues were commissioned by and paid for White Supremist organizations and then donated to various levels of gov't to put in public places.

The 'why' is obvious. It is a middle finger to POC. They are saying ...

'ok, we lost the war, but we are still left in power and have all the power and thus we will put these reminders of slavery and those who support in the places you must travel so you will never forget it.'
