The #1 thing that attracts immigrants are pre-existing immigrant communities. It’s a feedback loop that’s the reason NYC and California are economic powerhouses. Texas also has immigrant communities but Republicans there are doing their absolute best to shoot themselves in the foot by being inhospitable to Latinos.

This is too facile. The net economic effect of immigration generally, and undocumented immigrants specifically, is very complicated. I have a lot of tolerance for people who want to have good faith discussions about the rate at which the U.S. can absorb immigrants.

I have zero tolerance for people who talk about immigrants or propose to treat immigrants, undocumented or otherwise, in a demeaning or hateful way. If I thought that I needed to cross a border to better the lives of my family, I'm sure that I would do it.

This is certainly a big factor in where they choose to settle.

The current number for this year is 1.94 million. I do know you struggle with math but we have over 3 months left and the number will easily surpass 2 million and will probably hit close to 2.3 million ( Ill help you take out your calculator and take 1.94 million and divide by 9 that will give you a monthly average of over 200,000 each month. Now there are 3 months left in the year so based on that we could hit 2.5 million )

As well 750 individuals have died attempting to cross the southern border according to the DHS . Oh I forgot your limited knowledge. That is the Department of Homeland Security

California isn't really a border crossing state. People aren't coming up and crossing the border in great numbers through Baja. So it seems a bit unfair to compare it to states like Texas or Arizona. Comparing it to Florida probably is fair.

*Or actually Florida doesn't get any and California's crossings aren't nothing now that I'm looking at the data. But it's still dwarfed by Texas and Arizona.

You cannot in good faith complain about people dying trying to sneak across the border and also be against opening the borders.

There are likely multiple ways to do this in good faith.
