I'm sure that he was aware of the indignity of parading them around like circus animals, but that wasn't his primary objective.

His primary objective was to inconvenience and make a spectacle of a wealthy blue community for political gain. He probably was indifferent about what happened to the people who were getting on the plane. That's the problem.

If DeSantis did though somewhere in the back of his mind think that maybe all the publicity this would generate would maybe be good for the Venezuelans, would that then excuse even the deception involved in getting them to Massachusetts?

The idea that undocumented immigrants live mainly in Texas and Florida is ridiculous.

According to the most recent estimates from the Pew Research Center, about 60% of undocumented immigrants lived in 20 metro areas. New York City and LA had the most undocumented immigrants (1.1 million and 925,000, respective). Houston, DFW, DC, Miami, and Chicago all had between 400,000 and 500,000.

No. And it’s an absurd premise from the start.

You keep acting as if DeSantis has no say in how they would treated in the state where he is the governor. That's a ridiculous factual premise, which was the point I was trying to illustrate with my ridiculous hypothetical.

In any case, I don't see why deception would be required.

Obviously he has a say but I don't really get the relevance. I'm sure DeSantis could be doing a lot more to help people than ship off just a small number if that's the point. But if you follow that argument to its conclusion then it does end up putting the bulk of the burden of immigration on southern states-- which is what the stunt is trying to highlight.

What part is absurd? That DeSantis would think this or that people could be better off in the northeast?

This is now born out.

Officials use all sorts of fraud and misrepresentation to get them to board the planes but they also intentionally set them up to miss 'required meetings that would then mean they had to be sent out of the country.

It appears Federal ICE agents were in on it filling out fraudulent and wrong paper work ini many instances. I hope Biden's DOJ looks into it and fires a bunch of FLorida ICE people.

No its not what?

there are plenty bigger cities with shelter systems in those same States he could send them. ONce they are on a plane he could give them a heads up so they can be prepared for and met.

Of course he is sending them in a way he hopes causes maximum pain to the State and the people. That is clear.

If i have thousands of people in need and I send them to Red Deer and not Edmonton or Calgary, I do not have those peoples best interests at heart.

No.

See the video two above in my post.

Well unfortunately for DeSantis then that failed as these Venezuelans are already the new Chilean miners.

Once again, why aren’t Democrat states telling Texas and Florida to drop the migrants off in their states? Anybody?

Democrats assume migrants will vote for them. So what's the point in having them in states that are already blue?

If Venezuelans vote anything like Cubans (which I'll guess they do) then that isn't an assumption they should make.

Because it's obviously nonsense that other states aren't already sharing the load. If the political stunts of Florida and Texas are predicated on the lie that they have an outsized burden when it comes to immigration why should other states play along with that lie? How does that support an equitible distribution of immigration burden that these border states seem to be so concerned about? It doesn't, and that's not what any of this is actually about. I don't think it helps immigration policy generally to play into this crisis bullshit either.

Looking forward to the election btw when conservatives change their mind and think liberal states are actually chock full of undocumented immigrants voting illegally.
