Like I said they will prove to give a bump in the polls to Trump but whether it'll be enough to get him back in the contest we will have to see. Biden just needs to get through it without looking like he's about to fall asleep.

Biden was excellent in his debates against Paul Ryan and Sarah Palin.

Painting him as Sleepy Joe, has really lowered his expectations.

I agree with the sentiment that if Biden does not blow up, he will be viewed as the winner. He can stumble a bit and it won't hurt him. Will need an epic fail.

That said, Trump was decent against Hillary now, he actually knows how stuff works. If he sticks to policy issues and things he accomplished, he will do a lot better than if he goes after Joe.

My opinion, Trump shouldn't go after Joe the first debate.

Would it really surprise you if either of these candidates took something to help them focus during the debate?

I imagine whatever they took would be undectable or would be legally prescribed.

Reality is these debates will not swing many voters. Pretty much everyone knows whom they are voting for

Ratings will be huge as everyone will want to see if Joe is able to make it through the debate and how many lies Trump will tell

Chris Wallace will do probably do the best job as a moderator

If I was Trump I would challenge Biden to the 3 hour debate on Rogan

Expectations for Trump are so low I don't think it's possible for him to lose.

Biden will lose if Trump looks even semi-prepared. Even if Biden absolutely kills it during debate, if Trump looks semi-prepared, Trump will have surprised the audience to the upside and probably get a small bump.

Meanwhile, if Biden looks low energy or gaffes... well, people will be upset.

i have it from very good sources that Biden's apparent cognitive decline has all been a elaborate ruse and in fact Joe is sharp as a tack. Trump is not gonna know what hit him!

To be honest, ive seen Biden good&sharp, but ive seen him also very slow.
So this whole drugtest thing is not really farfetched imo.
Dont know what to expect tonight!? Sharp Joe or Slow Joe?

Of course the drug test thing is farfetched. Dementia was a strawman and now that the time has come to walk the walk another strawman in the complete opposite direction to deflect from Trump's lacking

Trump brought it up because he's off the sauce he was on years ago because he's older and unhealthier to the point his body cant sustain a bunch of stims wrecking shop on his frail mass

Yeah, I don't understand the strategy here. Biden mopped the floor with Ryan, who was supposed to be one of the big GOP policy wonks. He's been doing this sort of thing his entire adult life, he did a fine job at the DNC convention. Somehow Republicans think it's a smart move to lower the expectations for him as much as possible --it's clearly going to blow up in their faces.

I’ve read something , and imo it makes sense , about the influence of débats.

the result it can have is to motivate people to go vote or no , instead of changing their vote , which in the end is pretty much the same results wise .

if u are a moderate republican and you didn’t like trump presidency much and trump fair poorly in the debate , they won’t go vote .
Or if you have doubts about Biden as a democrats and totally get wreck tonight by mindless thoughts , they won’t go vote either .

Imo debates still have some usefulness.

The Trump team sent out a message to supporters stating they crushed the debate, and also saying to some they were disappointed you didn’t donate.

Before the debate started.

About as well-oiled and rooted in reality as everything else they do, it would seem.
