If you think Trump is a "bozo," and if you think the GOP is being held hostage by MAGA, why were you hopeful about Vivek? Of all the GOP candidates, he is the biggest Trump/MAGA fan by a large margin. As best I can tell, his entire strategy is to promote himself as the Trumpiest candidate besides Trump himself on the theory that it will serve him well if Trump has to withdraw.

Because Vivek repackages Trump's policy ideas into a slightly less obnoxious package. If you like the idea of disenfranchising people and open armed hostility toward Mexico but get turned off by Trump's vulgarity, Vivek is an ideal candidate. The challenge of course is that Trump's juvenile personal behavior was always his main selling point for a ton of Republican voters.

I would describe Vivek as more of a high ceiling, very low probability gimmick. If Trump were on a debate stage with Vivek, Trump would be justified in looking directly at Vivek and saying, "it sounds like you think I should be the next President." For that reason, Vivek is drawing stone dead -- 0.0% -- if Trump continues in the race.

Would Vivek consider being Trump's running mate? I honestly don't know. He surely must realize that Trump does harm to everyone around him. If I were Trump, I would choose someone like Tim Scott who was easier to control and less likely to cause trouble.

Democrats just passed the largest climate change bill in our history. They're going to keep pushing climate change alternatives and funding for them. It's pretty obvious what they're doing.

I think many (the majority?) in the GOP believe in climate change, but aren't willing to go along with some of the policies connected to climate change because the cost is too high. The blanket statement that the GOP thinks global warming is a hoax is nonsense.

Republican voters overwhelmingly support candidates who say that climate change is a hoax, they either think it's not real or they're so unconcerned by it that they're willing to support climate truther nonsense. You just saw these clowns get on stage and say it's a hoax and that didn't seem to discourage you in the slightest.
