The new 55 PKO early in the schedule is very nice Mike, good job. Any chance you could add at least one more 55-109 in the earlier schedule. I think a 109 PKO 6-max would do well but anything would be great. There is so much traffic in the 22-33s that it's clear the schedule can support some bigger offerings early as well.

I agree, any other thoughts on the series? we are obviously trying to incorporate some of these tourneys into the main schedule.

Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike

I liked this series so far. Although sometimes if I get reseated, the new table just wont open and I have to restart the whole client, which is obv. very nerve wraking if you play multiple tables. Especially because it happened a lot last sunday. I suspect your servers to not be able to handle such traffic. Please fix this issue first, before you add a ton of new tournaments. Thank you.

When is the ranking issue going to be fixed with the tournament info windows?? It appears for sporadic periods of time, then disappears. It's generally not a big deal, but when you get close to bubble it becomes a major pain in the ass to try and determine when it's going to pop. This is essential information as it dictates style of play, when to tank/use time bank, etc.

Bol tournament regular here.

TLDR; CLiffnotes.
*Bol/sportsbetting.ag suffered lobby error in sunday major 150k, with 224k in prizepool, shows only first plays is paid.

*Bubble info is not known by players at any time before the bubble is broken, new prize pool is announced and communicated to players well after the bubble has burst

* Tournament payout structure is changed midway through tournament, now less people are paid out, paying out 332/2240 is well below their standard.

* In a conversation with support with 400 people left, they were unable to tell me how many people would be paid, and a chat agent repeatedly told me, " we will only be paying out first place, as per management"

*I placed 339th out of 2240, only 332 people were paid in the new prize pool which was communicated to players after this point in the tournament had been reached.

*Bol has denied my refund of the tournament buy in in $TM.

Longer Version:

Midway through the Sunday Major $109 150k, a tournament exceeding its guarantee to a prizepool of $224,000, we experienced a terrible error where the standard prize pool and payout information was erased, and the prize pool area displayed a single first place pay out of the entire prize pool of $224,000. I noticed the error around the point of 500 people remaining of a field size of 2240 entrants. At the 400 mark I became worried, knowing intuitively we'd be close to the money bubble, and so I contacted support. Upon contacting support with 400 people left I was unable to get an accurate answer as to when the money bubble would occur, and moreover I was told by a member of sportsbetting.ag support that, " the tournament had been changed to payout only a single winner." This I was told multiple times in between long intervals of static while I waited to find out EXACTLY HOW MANY PEOPLE WOULD BE PAID, AS THIS IS A CRUCIAL PIECE OF INFORMATION IN ANY TOURNAMENT, LET ALONE THE BIGGEST TOURNAMENT OF THE MONTH FOR Betonline/Sportsbetting.ag. No bubble information was given. I was a shorter stack so this was especially frustrating and stressful. A poker friend who had played and busted the tournament in the previous hour said he thought we should be in the money at around the 350-400 remaining mark, and I agreed. I then bust 339th without ever being given the bubble information. Now fast forward about 30 minutes and my friend who was still playing tournaments on bol at the time tells me they released the payout information... AFTER THE BUBBLE HAD BURST. The final nail in the coffin of this story is that a payout of only 332 of the field is much lower than the normal payout structure for BOL mtts, which I think is somewhere around 18%. Betonline/sportsbetting. ag attempted to change the payout structure, paying less people than normal, in hopes that they could communicate the bubble to its players before it would occur. This of course they did to try and avoid complaints like this. I am not playing another hand on this site until I am refunded the full tournament buy with $Tm.

Cheers, Daemon, former Betonline tournament regular.

Wow man that is brutal and I can truly empathize with your situation.

I saw people posting about this issue in real-time in a different thread and BetonlineMike responded and assured everyone in the thread that players in the tournament had been notified and everyone was aware of the payout correct structure. I then wondered how they actually notified players of the correct payouts....obviously a simple pop-up notification wouldn't suffice since players could easily be multitabling or looking away from their screens. Emails would have been even worse.

Does anyone know how the site "notified" players to the point where they were confident everyone was aware and on the same page about the bubble/payouts?

Eitherway, give this man a refund.

Edit: I dug up his exact response and it said: "players are aware of the visual error". I guess I still wonder how all players were made aware of this if it wasn't showing in the tourney's lobby and couldn't even be verified through customer support in real-time.

I started grinding BOL mtts about 2 months ago and have put in a lot of volume over that time, and generally the site has been great. But over the last 2 weeks or so, I have run into an increasing amount of glitches, this one in particular being really bad.

To have to play the bubble of the Sunday Main (not to mention the largest guarantee I've ever seen on BOL) with absolutely no clue how many people would get paid is absurd, and the response has been even worse. The fact that a rep said the structure had been changed midway through the tourney into a winner take all is completely asinine.

And as it turns out, the structure was changed midway, as they ended up only paying out 15% when it originally was going to pay ~18%. I agree with Daemon's theory that this was a misguided attempt at CYA by BOL. This was also evident by the min cash amount being higher than it normally is, so to claim otherwise would be a pretty bold lie.

Daemon, and anyone else who busted near the bubble absolutely deserve a refund. If I were still alive as we approached the hypothetical bubble, I would've tried to use the 18% standard to estimate where it would be (which btw, would be completely unreasonable for me to have to do - and changing it to 15% without telling anybody makes it so much worse, making it downright impossible to estimate the bubble), which would have placed it around the 400 player mark - not 332. So at 337, where Daemon went out, I would have absolutely been playing as if the bubble already burst, which is very problematic if you are actually right on the bubble.

To answer SetSetter's question, the only thing I saw as far as notifications was a quick pop-up, which as he noted, is severely inadequate.

Luckily this didn't affect me - though unfortunately, that's because I burned through 3 bullets well before any bubble considerations...

Hope the online poker scene in the US improves soon. Good luck all.

Gonzo (aka Gonz Zimmer on BOL)

This so called "support" is not only completely useless because they dont understand any poker related topics, I accuse them also on using the "please be patient...I'll be right with you" - tactics. Basically let you wait until you give up and abandon chat.
Yesterday I spent 2 hours in chat, after 1h30 back and forth and a ton of "please be patient" the chat crashed and I had to explain my issue again to a new representative. After 30 min they promised me to grant me 109T$ for a second ticket I accidentially won for the ME as a "generous gesture" after the event was finished. Quite a joke if you consider how much thousands of rake I generate for this company.
Of course after the ME finished, nothing happened.
Next day in livechat, another 1h waiting and promises in investigating this issue, their conclusion is to mail support about the issue. This is truly kafkaesque.
For me its not about the money anymore, because I lost multiple hours already in their neverending loop they call "support", I just like to let you guys know HOW bad their customer service really is.

Dealing with BO support reminds me a lot of Kafka's "The trial", the similarities are striking
03-31-2020 , 11:37 AM
I am confused...so you have the event series going right now...Event #96 is an $11 Mega with 1500 GTD.....there's a regular tournament that's given every day that's an $11 Mega with 2000 GTD...what's so special about the event one that it's an event one?
03-31-2020 , 02:07 PM
If there was no prior announcement of a change to the payouts before the Main Event and they paid less places then what they usually pay for their Main Events(15% vs 18%) because of the glitch then I definitely think those who would have normally made the money with their usual pay structure should be awarded a min-cash. Hopefully they make it right.

They also need to make sure this glitch doesn't happen again and make sure the rankings are always shown.

these 10k chips tourneys having 17 levels of late reg is kind of a joke. you're too close to itm when reg closes. maybe bump it down to just 15 levels? if i had my way it would be 11 but whatever.

I agree, it's just basically telling people to wait till late registration ends to register..all you need is one double up and you're basically good to go.

I agree the "monster" tourneys are a complete **** show. Its also insanely terrible that the higher buy ins seem to almost all be "monster" tourneys. $55 $109 $215. Once you get to level 15ish average stack stays below 20bb the rest of the tourney which again is comical to have all the bigger buyins in this format. But hey what do I know. I only play about 22 mtts a day and plan on lowering that significantly bc whoever is in charge of the poker tournaments and promotions has ZERO clue of whats going on. Sadly that has been showcased 10 fold since the influx of all these new players joining the site. They haven't gotten a single thing right in promoting the growth of the site and giving us the mtts we want.
04-01-2020 , 12:10 AM
The sad thing is that the monster tournaments at lower levels are worse than some of the regular ones...how are you going to call it monster when there's less GTD money than some of the tournaments you have everyday going?

Hi guys,

Thanks for the feedback please keep it coming.
I am just curious what you all think about our satellites?
Are there enough? how many seats do you like? structures? times? when you might play one for our bigger events?

I look forward to your answers

Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike

I like the satellites. In general, I think you can make the structure in those even faster, at least in the beginning. Like a r&a 10$ for the 550$. People will rebuy like crazy and it will be fun. The worst thing imo is to play no ante, 200bb deep satellites. Improve the bigger buyins by increasing the leveltime from 10 to 12/15 min at around lvl 12/18 and keep the satellites fast & gamble friendly.
04-01-2020 , 12:09 PM
Funny you asked about satellites.
Last night,3/31, I played a $5 satellite to get into a $55 satellite. I won a ticket into the $55 satellite to get into event #111. The $55 satellite was scheduled for 9pm CST. At that time there were 9 players registered and there was a minimum of 14 needed so the satellite got cancelled. Im ok with that. What Im not ok with is I DID NOT GET THE $55 TICKET CREDITED TO MY ACCOUNT. I gave it about 5 minutes to see if it would show up, then i contacted live chat support. They said they would get with the "team" and they would send me an email. Nothing yet. Not sure how long I need to wait to get an email, so I can further pursue the missing money.

Is boost considered a cash table for these heads up satellite missions?
04-01-2020 , 12:33 PM
Betonline Mike,

It seems that my funds mysteriously and suddenly appeared in my account. I can only assume that the reason for that is because of this forum. Anyway, this issue is now resolved (for now -- until I try to make a withdrawal -- which I am sure will be as painful as the deposit process)

Thanks

Nice to see some new PKOs popping up on the slate.

I checked Talisman and Thapan and they haven’t played since 18 March. How obvious these are rigged accounts...
