Re: BetOnline.ag Poker: General Discussions Thread

I completely agree with everybody's posts above regarding the decision to implement an anonymous lobby in the upcoming software update. Please don't change what isn't broken, especially not for a system that has proven to be completely broken on every other site that has implemented that system.

One of the main reasons I, and many of your players, like playing here is because of how good the software and lobby is on this network compared to other networks that we have the option to play at.

There are some issues that could definitely be improved at the Chico tables, but an anonymous lobby is not the correct solution IMO. I'd be happy to discuss other solutions for whatever it is Chico management are trying to accomplish by implementing a change like this.

If you believe this is the solution to prevent seating scripts then I can assure you that it has not prevented the use of seating scripts at several of the other networks that have implemented anonymous lobbies.

To add to what everybody here has said, here is some of what a dozen of the regs playing the highest stakes at WPN, as well as high stakes at other big sites, have had to say about that system over the last 6 months since it was implemented at the WPN tables.

It definitely was true at one point. If still true then they need to update their rules page.

If you are talking about "jeuxdeminx" he is in the Chico Regs Discord and tagged as trusted, meaning its very, very likely he is legit
I don't know anything else since I don't play PLO

That seems like a different player if that's his screen name. Didn't mean to imply that this player wasn't legit. Just was complimenting his heads up skills and curious if anyone knew who he was.

Hi guys,

I've compiled a file with all your feedback regarding the upcoming software upgrade and will be sending it for consideration. I've been told the new possible date for the software release that contains the changes mentioned in the last couple of threads here was moved to next week, potentially the 19th.

I will do my part in making sure your feedback is reviewed.

Thank you all.
Chris

Another thing that isn't public (at least not for me) is how much profit do the sites actually get from regs vs recs. I'm not talking strictly rake generated either, more like actual deposit/withdrawal relative to rake generated.
This take is ridiculous. Even tho most people who posted play 200+/500+, i dont see why lobby should be anon at 100 or lower, yet transparent at 200+. Every stake is same except its more money per big blind.

If its too much money for stake X, like high stakes, you may need extra doc verification (chico doesnt have such high stakes), its common practice and makes perfect sense. Everything else seems `i want this so do that`.

`Seems that most regs play +200nl and most recs play 100nl and lower? idk`
Sorry but this sentence is random choice of words put together and makes no sense.

Why not just go to totally anonymous like Bovada?

Question Re: BetOnline.ag Poker: General Discussions Thread

Hi Chris,

My OS is Ubuntu 20.04.3 and I use a Win7 VM with Virtualbox to play ACR, Ignition, Carbon and Intertops.
I played a few freerolls on BOL using the VM until I got a message saying my account was locked.

From the "Betonline Game Integrity Team":
"The use of Virtual Machines and/or any software that specializes in screen-sharing and remote-access is prohibited."

Any idea what is the problem with a VM?

I am able to play in a Chrome browser on Linux just fine so it's not a big
deal at this point.

Thanks,

Brian

I expect the reasoning is that it would allow you to run forbidden software outside of the VM without giving the BetOnline client the possability to detect it

This would be correct. Unfortunately it would be very difficult to draw a line between the players that will use VM software to get an edge over the games vs the players that won't, so the rule is that the software is not permitted across the board.

Regards,
Chris

Why not just play at Bovada/Ignition if anonymous poker is what someone prefers? It makes me happy that we have some different options that don't have to be the same.

I personally dislike anonymous poker and would hate to see this network go that route. Anonymous tables are the poker equivalent of tee-ball or bumper bowling IMO. It's a completely cold environment over there where you never get to interact with people at the same tables as you. You might as well be playing at a table full of bots that can't communicate aside from a small number of emojis, but somehow several are just programmed very poorly.

Speaking of which, anonymous poker makes it much more difficult to detect game integrity issues from the players' perspective.

If you're in the US and have access to both then why would you choose to play here instead of over there if both are anonymous, if over there is going to be softer on average due to do more strict location restrictions?

Re: BetOnline.ag Poker: General Discussions Thread

^ MCAChiTown nailed it pretty much spot on.

Im convinced chico would take massive hit if it went full anonymous, its opposite of what anything FUN poker is about stands for imo.

And no i wouldnt be depressed if they went that route. Would just play elsewhere. As a bunch of recs would as well, i`m very positive.

Trust me, many years taught me not get overly depressed about poker rooms (questionable) decision making. You just need to adjust and move forward, for better options.

Re: BetOnline.ag Poker: General Discussions Thread

This anonymous lobby has been tried on 3 other sites before (Party, iPoker and WPN) and on all sites it has destroyed the action, and created a more frustrating environment. Regs and recs both hate it. And it didn't help one bit to combat the bumhunting, table still snap fill if a rec joins.

Just wanted to say **** this site. Never run worse anywhere. Would rather play on Bovada with their awful UI. Should've just left when they stole all the VIP points.

Its mind blowing how much worse everything has gotten. The player pools obviously has some bearing but the simplicity of it all got lost somewhere. It’s night and day different and not for the good.
