Below are the old and new rake structures.

You also have to take into account that the BBJ contribution cap also increased, when talking about NL. The cap used to be .50 per hand on the big BBJ, with .10 for every $4 going to the jackpot.

The now easier to hit jackpots still come with a 5% administration fee every time someone wins, which is just more rake worded differently.

At NL500 that's a rake cap of $7+$2. For comparison my local cardroom, which is infinitely softer, is $6+$1.

I play 500/1k NLH. I think we should follow GGpokers example and boycott the games.

I haven't played any cash games here since they raised the rake. I'm not sure who all has still been playing with that insane rake, but I have no plans to sit down to find out.
My assumption would be that it's primarily players with very limited options, players who are unaware of the rake changes and some recs who would be unaware of rake at all.

The only way I could see it being worth it to play is if you're able to constantly sit in a good seat in relation to a recreational player or a table with multiple recreational players and to do that you risk getting warned for predatory behavior and table restrictions. The games weren't soft enough for you to have a good chance of that being the case a lot of the time. Any regs who are still playing short-handed reg battles with the new rake aren't very smart.

The GG boycott worked because the high stakes community is a small group who are pretty well connected to each other either directly or through friends and is made up of some of the most well-respected active poker players.
These players understand what effects raising the rake has on the profitability of playing in the games.

I don't think it's feasible to get all of the remaining Chico regs to boycott the games, but I do think it's only a matter of time before the cash game traffic completely plummets to a very small number when more and more players begin to understand how bad the rake is on this network. The rake awareness currently being shared in the poker community is definitely something likely to affect the traffic at the Chico Network as well.

Once this rake hike took place i stopped playing there as well. I play micros but get about 100-150k hands per year and refuse to give them this much rake especially if they don't even offer RB.

This is on top of the fiasco when they eliminated player points)VIP points, i don't remember what they were called) with nothing given to those with 100s of dollars worth.

Are the problems with the straddle feature going to be fixed? The straddle looks the same as a minraise. Another thing is the checkbox for sit out next hand or sit out next big blind being affected by the decision to straddle or how fast you make the decision to straddle. Sometimes this leads to sitting out. Other times it leads to posting the big blind when the player didn't want to.

+1 I have also stopped playing here due to the rake, and their stealth addition of potential straddle on all tables.

updates on games at nl500/1k since they raised rake? did many ppl quit?
04-17-2023 , 05:42 PM
meh just gonna w/d roll until rake decrease. Action at 1k PLO has been pretty meh the last week and not many games that are even worth it. Plus global poker has 35% RB right now so for anyone in NA region it makes no sense to put your volume on BoL after the huge rake increase.

This cost me 3-4k in value and I quit the site for good soon after. Basically the same as just stealing money from the players.

I'm fairly certain I've identified 3 bots at PLO tables and have tried mentioned to live support multiple times but to no avail:

mrRABANNE
Waddles
TSpinDouble

Hi lizzuma,

Could you send me a PM with your poker nickname on the Chico Network. The Game Integrity Team will most likely provide you with an outcome of the investigation.

My best,

Chris

No way in my opinion the last two would be bots. Tspin is the worst ****-talking bad reg there is and Waddles is probably a rec.

I thought they took out the chat box?

Anyway, I stopped playing on this site a while ago and was going to check it out again. Not anymore with this increased rake structure. Was hard enough to win before.

There is still chat. Btw I take back what I say about Tspin not being a bot. He hasn't been responding in chat so potentially still a bot while not one previously.

You do realize that just talking to a bot is no longer a determination factor in human or not.. I can hook up a bot to Chat GPT and it could chat with you all day long about whatever you wanted to talk about and you would be none the wiser. It's already happening with video game bots.

It's tongue in cheek. It would be hard to find an AI as incoherent and foul-mouthed as Tspin used to be.

you can actually tell the ai to not use correct grammar, use excessive cuss words, and speak in a way that you want.. you should look up a video that came out the other day called "Chat GPT is ruining Rune scape". I understand it's tounge in cheek, but what was impossible is now reality.

Btw you should never take their live chat seriously, these guys are there to just filter out raging gamblers, if you actually want to resolve an issue, I suggest using email or trying to catch Betonline Chris on here

Hey kthanksbye,

The page there seems a bit outdated. The site used to change the Bad Beat Jackpot hand more often a few years back (from Quad Q's to Quad 2's, then back to Q's). Then at some point they kept it at Quad 2's and more recently when they introduced the Bad Beat Jackpot 2.0 they lowered the requirement to Aces Full but found an issue (as Phew pointed it out) and was reverted back to Quad 2's.

I know they are working on fixing that issue and lowering the requirement again to Aces Full to guarantee more frequent Jackpot wins. That is possibly coming this month but will confirm once they are close to releasing the new requirement.

Will ask their team to update those terms but at the moment the requirement is fixed at Four of a Kind 2's for the NLHE Bad Beat Jackpots and Four of a Kind 6's for the PLO Bad Beat Jackpots.

Best regards,
Chris

Wish they don't. Each additional card just adds more rake
