Welcome to Big Ugly Poker Welcome to Big Ugly Poker

Hey Two Plus Two,

We’re excited to announce the launch of our new poker site, Big Ugly Poker, here in the Two Plus Two forums. We couldn’t think of a better place to do so than right here in the premier gathering of poker players on the planet!

What is Big Ugly Poker? We’re a completely free-to-play poker site with a twist… you can win a lot of money and prizes! In fact, we expect that in the near future, you’ll have more opportunity to win more money on our site than any other poker site in history! There’s nothing to download. Feel free to observe our site and our poker games before you even create an account. When you’re ready to play, it’ll take less than a minute to get in the game.

What’s the catch? We’re serious when we say free to play. No deposits allowed. None. Nada. Zilch. No subscriptions or sweepstakes either. Honest to goodness, you couldn’t give us money if you tried. Our site is supported exclusively by advertising revenue, which we split with our players in the form of prizes. Lots of prizes! Including cash. The more people that play, the more prize money we pay out.

A new way to play and win. As you know, it’s not legal to gamble throughout most of the US. Which means, we can never allow you to risk anything of value. By giving you completely free entries into all our tournaments, we stay completely legal. On Big Ugly Poker, you’ll find two tournament formats that you’re probably familiar with – Scheduled tournament and Sit and Go tournaments. We also invented a new tournament format called a Play and Go that gives you the convenience and flexibility of ring game poker in a tournament format, which ensures you never put anything of value at risk! Try as you might, you simply can’t lose.

Who we are. We are a very compact team of passionate poker developers who are growing this product quickly. Those of us who will be posting here on Two Plus Two are all members of the development team. When you communicate with us, you are communicating directly with the team members who design, improve, fix, and curate the product day in and day out. So any suggestions you have go directly into our product feedback cycle. We are here because we want to hear directly from top notch online poker players in an effort to improve our site. We are looking to you to help us develop our road map and prioritize our feature set.

We’re in Beta. We are just announcing our launch today, so a little patience and persistence may be required. Every new poker site takes a bit of time to bootstrap. As our poker community grows, more games will become available. In the onset, it’s important not to fracture players into too many different games. We already have support for all sorts of variants like limit, Omaha, turbo, etc. Rest assured that we will make those available soon enough. In the meantime, we’re offering only no limit holdem since it’s by far the most popular game. Should you find any bugs (or what we like to call “reluctant features”) please don’t hesitate to drop us a note in our site’s message center, or right here in the Two Plus Two Forums.

We hope you have lots of fun playing on Big Ugly Poker. And we hope you win lots of money. We also hope you share your thoughts and experiences with us, good or bad. We’re here to listen to anything you have to tell us.

Good Luck,
Big Ugly Greg
(The Creative Guy)

Hi Preki, did you click the + in the upper right to add a game? I'm playing on the site right now and it seems to be running fine. Let me know if you need more help.

Hey Super Hex,

I could give you a promo code but it won't get you anything at the moment. Since we don't take deposits, we don't offer any deposit bonuses. I promise, you won't be missing out on anything if you leave that field blank. But if it will help you sleep better tonight, go ahead and use the code: TWOPLUSTWO

I'm not seeing the + sign, sorry.

Will give it a try. This model has been done for internet bingo many times. Not always to success.

Good luck!

Hi Preki,

No worries, it's right here:

We're able to replicate this on one of our machines. Should be a quick fix!

Does the prize pool increase as more players register?

The scheduled tourney has 1 entrant out of 24 and a prize pool of 6 coins.

If the pool increases, you should label it as such. 6 coins sounds like 6/10 of a cent.

If 6 coins is in fact the entire prize pool, good luck to you, I’m out.

The prize pool increases during the course of the tournament as people watch ads. The more people, the more ads, the bigger the prize pool.

If 100 people entered a tournament (in region 1) the prize pool would be about $20 (20,000 coins). If 10,000 people entered a tournament, we'd expect the prize pool to be around $2,000 (2,000,000 coins). So at the point when we grow to that size, we'll be offering roughly $2,000 freerolls every hour of every day. Imagine what would happen if we hit 100K players!

Cool. Thanks for the info! My wife will likely love this site.

Whoops! Our scheduled tourn hit a snag! We're fixing it now, expect it back up by the next Top of the Hour tourn. Get in on some Play And Gos in the mean time.

Whoops. My bad. Sorry about that first experience for new tournament players. The bug was found and fixed during the first level. We're still playing so if you registered, a simple browser refresh will get you back in the game.

Got an important question:

When the beta is over, do you guarantee that our coins balance will remain and not be reset to zero?

Thanks

We hope to be out of beta by end of August and we guarantee all balances from beta will remain.

Thank you so much. We're giving away a substantially higher rev share than any other company, so we're hoping that players will find this model to be much more lucrative than it might initially appear. Especially so as more players join the game.

Also, by the end of the year, we hope to add many more games (such as Hearts, Backgammon, and many many more). So please stick with us.

Good luck playing!

Is multi-tabling planned?

There are two different 'yes' answers to that question...

At the moment, you can already play in 4 Play and Go, 4 Sit and Go, and 4 Scheduled tournaments at the same time. However, we are only running a single PnG in order to not fracture the player pool. This means your PnG limit is effectively 1. In the near future, we will add the ability to register for the same PnG more than once, the advantage being that should you have one entry with a very high chip count and few players to play against, you could then add a second entry with a lower chip count and play at a level with more competition. However, you would not be able to play more than one entry from the same PnG at a time. Also, as the player pool grows we will add more PnG options for say limit holdem, omaha, different ad rates, turbo tables, 9-seated tables, or Gladiator style (where you're not allowed to move down levels in the PnG), to list a few possible options.

We're also planning to include the ability to play several tables at a time from a single window, whereby you would be able to see your cards on each active table and easily switch between them. The advantage here is that you could multi-table on small screens like moblie devices, tablets, or smaller monitors. It may be convenient even for large monitors.
