Official MPN - Microgaming Poker Network Thread

Welcome to the first ever OFFICIAL Microgaming Poker Thread!

We are excited to announce that our new download poker software is live! Please check it out and let us know your thoughts. The client will have rolled out to all of our poker rooms by the end of today, except for Grosvenor Poker which has decided to hold off on launching the client until the end of an event they are running.

Download links for each client can be found here: https://mpn.poker/prima-download-links/

Our new poker client simplifies the poker experience and still gives you the features like loyalty, bonus and achievements you’ve always enjoyed, plus a few new ones. There’s a built-in feedback system for you to let us know what you think. We’d love to hear what you love, what you feel we may be missing and what we can improve on. We have already made some changes as a result of player feedback we received at our MPN Poker Tour events, so your suggestions really will make a difference.

If you like the old software, you can still play on it. We’re not planning a mandatory switch over just yet, but we hope you’ll take a look at the new client and let us know what you think.

You can learn more about the new poker software on our blog:
https://mpn.poker/building-a-21st-ce...er-experience/
https://mpn.poker/futureproof/

Purpose of this Thread

Along with MPN announcements, this thread is also to gain feedback directly from you, the player. We welcome your questions or feedback about our software, our network promotions, our online tournaments, our MPN Poker Tour series of live events, as well as any other comments you have.

As we are the software provider, not the operator, there are some types of question we can’t answer. Think of us like the airport, not the airline. Just as the airport can’t answer questions about your specific holiday booking, we can’t answer questions about your account with one of our poker rooms.

Such queries include anything which needs access to your personal data, account history, financial data, deposit or withdrawal methods or gameplay history. These types of question should be referred to your poker room’s customer support department.

Good luck at the tables – we can’t wait to hear what you think!

FAQ

Q. What Poker Rooms are on the MPN?

A. A list of the poker rooms on the MPN can be found on our website, here: https://mpn.poker/poker-rooms/

Q. Why doesn't the new client have [my favourite feature]?

A. Please see Post #10.

Q. Are Tracking Software / HUDs allowed?

A. Yes, but it is unlikely that any will work with the new client, especially shortly after launch.

Q. Do I have to use the new software?

A. No. We are currently in the soft-launch phase, and you can still use the old software if you prefer. Installing the new software will not remove the old software from your computer. We will not require players to upgrade to the new software until we're confident that it's a better experience for most players. That said, we would really appreciate your thoughts and feedback on the new software.

Q. How do I report a problem with the new software?

A. Please contact your poker room by email, provide a detailed description of your issue, and attach your log files.

On Windows:

- Click the Start Menu
- Enter the following text: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\
- Open the poker room folder (e.g. 'Prima Poker')
- The log file is in this folder, called 'log.log'. Attach this file to the email.

On Mac:

- In Finder, Click the 'Go' Menu, then select 'Go to Folder'
- Enter the following text: ~/Library/Logs/
- Open the poker room folder (e.g. 'Prima Poker')
- The log file is in this folder, called 'log.log'. Attach this file to the email.

Important: Please do not post personal information (such as your real name or email address) here, or send it by PM.

Allowing users to customise the bet slider and setting default bet sizings is a must have feature. The old client had an excellent system in place for that, please implement it in the new one.

This feature is on our backlog and we plan to implement it, although as with everything else, we'll be taking a fresh look at the feature, to try to simplify and improve the UX.

Re: Official MPN - Microgaming Poker Network Thread

Hi there,

Could you please suggest me any MPN site that have two features: 30% flat rakeback at all time (normal practice) and preferred currency must be USD. It means that account currency is USD so I can deposit in USD with no charge. I understand that MPN uses EUR as main currency. and when you bring USD to the table, it is converted to EUR with defined rate, then when you leave you will received USD with same rate before (the function of MPN I guess as I played at 188 poker with USD).

I'm currently playing at RedKings and everything is just fine (30% rakeback, effective support). However one thing is that its main currency is EUR while my skrill account is in USD (cannot change it). I deposited $15 to get 12.79 EUR to bring to the table (let's say I don't win anything and want to withdraw it back, 12.79 EUR now worth only $14.60).

After winning EUR, I have to convert them back to USD to withdraw to my Skrill account. The process costs me roughly 2% unnecessary (USD to EUR then back to USD). Therefore I would like to find a site similar to 188 what allows to deposit in USD and withdraw in USD with no fee. Any suggestion is appreciated.

Thanks and regards.

Our old client is out-dated so let's make a crappier one with LESS features! This couldn't be made into a movie since no audience would be able to suspend their disbelief that much. I know you have a vision of what a poker site should look like mr. Scott, but man oh man you need some heavy glasses.

Has anything changed witht the current rb system or is it changing in the near future. If so then how? And is mpn supporting trackers in the future? Why can't i remove the avatars or casinogames apps from my table? Atm the client is bit laggy and crappy. You had on e of the best clients way back in the day. Messed that up. You had one of the ok ones and messed that up.

Re: Official MPN - Microgaming Poker Network Thread

Customise the bet slider (please not only steps like 30/40/50%...it must be possible 32/33/34%....!), nice if you will change this.

I like its possible to scroll the bet size, but if i am in the BB and scroll for example to 124,5 Chips, it raise 124,5+the Big Blind, thats bad, better it raise only to 124.5!

I dont want to play with avatars and Casino Buttons
I dont need to see my hand strength
I dont need this +1 Button (one Table more)
Hope its possible to disable this in the future.

Oh yeah and I most def don't want to see my folded cards. It makes multitabling way much harder when you're not used to see your folded hands allso.

I'm not able to recommend a poker room - I have to be impartial and treat them all equally. Sorry - I hope that others in this thread can help you instead.

We've released the client with fewer features for a couple of reasons.

1. Many of the features in the old client weren't widely used. It didn't make sense to implement features that only a handful of people cared about.

2. While some features obviously generate business value, others are less clear. We can make educated guesses, but guessing is not considered the best way to do software development (especially when you are guessing about big features that take a long time to develop). So we have released the client with improved analytics and a feedback system so that we can measure what is important to people, what generates business value, and then quickly react.

Our intention is to respond to the feedback we receive and implement the features that people actually care about, rather than what we think they care about.

No, it has not changed. We have simplified the interface to make it easier to understand, however.

We are taking a neutral stance. We won't be doing any work to support tracking software, but we don't think it's a good use of our time to prohibit it either.

It's up to the makers of tracking software to decide if they want to support us.

The ability to hide distractions like these is on our backlog and will be introduced in future.

Hi I used to play in MPN around 1 year ago, but I stopped when they changed the Hand History for the cash games, the Hand History in the cash games is the same like before? Or now you can get all the hands that you played?

Thank you.

The new client does not store hand histories on your computer at all. We have a new Player History app, in that you can review any real money hand that you were dealt into.

We have no plans to start storing hand histories on the device.

Please explain how this is "neutral" and how tracking software can be developed if hand histories are not stored.

How you conclude, that many of the features in the old client weren't widely used? All setting (table theme, player ratings, player notes , hand histories and etc) are stored locally on the user's hard drives.

It's neutral in the sense that we are not doing any work to explicitly support, or prohibit third party software.

Not having local hand histories probably makes it very difficult to implement tracking software. But making things easier for third-party software developers is not a priority for us.

Even the old client has analytics. We're not complete dinosaurs!

Neutral will be if software save hand history and that's it. You are neither helping nor get in a way of the third-party software developers. IMO not saving hand histories is not neutral position.

The right of the player is to had the full history of the hands that he had played (for analyze and improvement). Also to entertain with players (via chat) and takes notes on them. This is not available right now.

What is the priority for MPN? In a blog post years ago (Why Doesn’t the MPN Talk to Players?) you write that "You are not my customer." and it is true, but now MPN had official thread and ask for the opinions from players.

Why don't ask for opinions upfront? It seems to me that MPN is not looking for honest opinions from players, but makes a fake feedback system and etc, so in the end MPN can say "this is what players wants, so deal with it or gtfo".

Why not MPN (or MPN skins) make an voting pool for each different feature and see what is the opinion of the players for each feature?

I agree on the first point. This is why we have a Player History app, which includes all of the hands you have played, which you can use to review, analyse and improve. I think this is hugely important.

I don't think players should have to rely on third-party software for this. If there is a feature that is important to you that is present in third-party software, let us know and we will consider developing it.

I also think that players should have the same tools available to them whether they are playing on mobile, tablet or desktop.

Re: Chat - It has advantages and disadvantages. We are, frankly, undecided on how important it is. We'll make a decision depending on the feedback we get and the data we gather from this launch.

Re: Notes - This is on our backlog and we do intend to develop it (with some significant improvements compared to the old client, of course).

We actually did get opinions up front. We held a number of formal and informal focus groups in which we gathered feedback from real players. We've been able to implement some of that feedback in time for launch, and we're working on some more at the moment.

The feedback system is our way for people to 'vote' on features. If you use the feedback system, we can match up the things you want with other variables, such as the device you're using and your value as a player.

Judge us on our actions. We intend to be transparent about what we're doing and why. If, in a few months time, you feel that we haven't lived up to our promises, then call us out.

Since you went with a "launch a minimum viable product" approach, please allow us to keep using the old client for as long as possible. MPN is my favorite network to play on. I would be incredibly frustrated if I'm unable to do so because the new client lacks essential features.

We intend to run the classic and new clients in parallel for a while. We have not decided how long yet, but it will be at least a few months.

Re: Official MPN - Microgaming Poker Network Thread

The capabilities of a tracker can not be implemented fully in the software. So a possible solution would be to give people the chance to get their HH like 24 hrs after they played. That way you avoid real time tracking and the use of HUDs which are an unfair advantage over recreational players but give people the chance to fully analyze and improve their own game. The fact that I can’t properly analyze my own game is the main deterrent for me to make MPN my main poker site...

But generally I really like your overall strategy and approach and wish you success and growth!

Other than the ability to track multiple sites in the same place, why not?

The amount of stats, creating custom stats, analyzing population tendencies etc And I would assume that it is not in the interest of a poker site to give every player a fully functional tracker with comparable features to HM2 or H2N within the client...

Furthermore, there could be performance issues and it is also a matter of expertise and funding if you decide to try implementing something similar. Stuff like that costs time and resources so it comes down to your priorities. And I would guess those lie elsewhere like general UX, stability, backlog etc

Is anyone else getting the "sit out" bug? If I run out of time on the table and get sat out, I am unable to use the "I am back" function, even if I click it a second after I get sat out. Table freezes and I have to close it and my seat is gone.
