I just received a email from Game-protect claiming that the seizure of funds is in final stages. They would need a copy of My ID to complete the process. Any one get a similar email or have dealt with this company in the past. Im a bit sceptic about sending my ID in. Thoughts?

Send them the ID. It's normal.

No. Seems suspicious to me. Wouldn't recommend clicking on any links in that email either. Ignore email is what I suggest imho.

From what I can remember of posts on here about them, I'd be cautious.

So I guess the answer is...nothing?

This isn't a poker site - it's a supposed "collection service". The worst that can happen? No idea. Identity theft, I guess? I'm not saying OP should (or shouldn't) do it - I'm just urging caution. They came off pretty poorly in this forum from what I recall.

Are we talking about Lock Poker that disappeared one day and stole all the players money? Are you recouping funds?

This is a screen shot of the email i received and responded too. I'm not sure if its legit. I do recall entering and sending info to them years back during height of the lock poker scam. Not sure why it took so long at this point. Also, I'm not sure how legit this company is.

Hi,

The Lock Poker collection proceeding is in its final stage and I need a
copy of your identity card to add your claim to the seizure request?

Best regards,

GP

I then responded when and how would I receive funds and was sent this response.

The lawyer handling this case will now demand payment and if 1668/JAZ
will not pay, they will lose its license and can not issue sub-licenses
anymore and can not make millions anymore.

It took so long to come to this point because 1668/JAZ appealed all
court decisions.

We do not know if they will pay, but if they will pay, the lawyer will
send 2,000 USD to the bank account you will give him.

I had a really nice chunk on Lock when it went under, so this perked my ears up, but this has Nigerian Prince feel to it and I would be very careful if I were you.

Wow, had not heard about "game protect" in a long time. Pretty sure the account posting as that got banned here a long time ago.

There was a thread similar to this a few years ago when some people said basically "what is the harm in giving these people all my ID info?" How do you answer that seriously at this point. If people want to believe a rando "company" that got banned here is finally getting money from an online site that poofed a decade ago or so and want to give them all their personal data - meh, whatever at this point.

There was a lesser thing that happened long ago when a company called Pure Poker pitched that it was helping return Lock Poker money when all it was doing was giving a below standard (at the time) instant bankroll ($50 or so) and unlimited bonus (30ish percent rakeback, also mundane at the time). The site had literally nothing to do with Lock Poker, but people were determined to believe this company was helping them get back Lock money. COmical and sad at the same time. Pretty sure I got some nasty PMs from the dude running that at the time, but no surprise they poofed not long after that whole thing. I don't think they stole any money, but it was a pretty low end way to market to people who had just been conned. Managed to find the thread!

I couldn't find any user here, banned or not, that used the name of Game-protect, but it was alleged, (https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/s...postcount=3746), that Player Protection owned the site after a post here: https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/s...postcount=3734.

After using the site's Search function, I couldn't find any mention remaining about Lock Poker - which seems a little odd if "seizure of funds is in final stages".

There is zero chance I'd believe a thing they say, about lock, Full Flush, or yesterday's weather.

Yeah, was "Player Protection" that was pitching it and there was some donk that lost a lot on all the scam sites (he just kept going from one to the other). Think he kept posting how much he was winning in that FullFlush thread for months after the money there became worthless, and nobody could convince him to stop. He stopped when the room finally shut down. Pretty sure he got conned for a couple thousand by that Game Protect / Player Protection nonsense, which is no surprise as donks like that get taken over and over and rarely learn from their mistakes.

That was "agirlinohio" I think. Went back and forth several times trying to help and they basically told me to myob. That was after I called the law office of the attorney supposedly handling the case. He was on extended holiday so I spoke with his assistant. She told me she had no case on file and none even in the firm.

The last cpl pages of the Full Flush thread had all the back and forth. Even leaving the phone and email information for the supposed law firm, I was told I didn't know what I was talking about. 100% complete scam artist.
