Over the years I have read a few people have altered something in the Pokerstars folder that prevents auto updates on opening.

Can someone quickly tell me what that is because the latest update is forcing me to have players dimmed when not in pot and there is no option to switch it back.

Cheers

I'm not sure anyone here is going to help you. I'm pretty sure it would be against the tos.

You need to go to your program files where PokerStars is installed.

C> Windows> Program Files (x86) > PokerStars

Look for PokerStars.exe and open this file. This will help you bypass the update and I'm pretty sure it's not against the tos.

I kind of doubt it's against their TOS, but good chance they don't recommend it or want you doing it not just because they want you to have their newest bells & whistles, but security updates - that's the one thing I'd be concerned about if I did this.

err, you are acting like it's a big deal. just go into your stars folder and make a shortcut for pokerstars.exe, not for the default PokerstarsUpdate.exe

Isn't that forbidden?

Stars regs have been running the Pokerstars.exe file as default for years. For one, it's good practice in case any new update breaks compatibility with third-party software. It's better to wait until the third-party software updates first and THEN run the PokerstarsUpdate.exe once, than to update Stars and have to wait on the third-party update. I may be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure Pokerstars reps have also suggested this to players in the past too.

EDIT:
