Unfortunately, that's probably about right. Even states considering legislation will probably take at least a couple years between the beginning of legislative efforts and cards in the air. So unless we hit a 1-outer at the federal level, it's gonna be rough.
I'm betting on poker bots being strong enough to have an edge vs all human players at heads up NLHE and PLO before a respectable system is in place through most of the U.S., which will likely kill off a lot of the action.
There's a good chance it's all downhill from here (as it has been since 2006-2008).
Only good thing for poker that's happened really has been bitcoin, and even that's fairly niche at this point.
