Thank you Mr. haven.

In case your browser also comes across this your windows system is NOT damaged OR vulnerable, they are lying, manually close the web page through task manager (ctrl-alt-delete) and do not follow any of their instructions. They are attempting TO damage your system.

I posted to this thread since poker.cardplayer.com is one of the few $ options for US poker. I couldn't begin to tell you all the different disconnect/hard boot/comp crashes I've been through on older PC's getting dealt in at poker.cardplayer.com.

I don't see Kentucky in that list

Anyone know if you can play on 888 Poker in MO? I've tried downloading the software several times, but its not working. Not sure if it is because I can't play in my state?

From Missouri? No, you wouldn't be able to play at 888 from there. 888 doesn't offer games in unregulated states.

I checked the side bar link for places to play if your an American but I really don't have any experience with online poker to relate these reviews too. Also don't know how current they are. So what is/are the best option out there?

Pai Wang Luo Network, Winning Poker Network, Chico Network and Global Poker prob have the most traffic. I’d look into those first.

I'd stay far away from the WPN sites if you're new to online poker.

BetOnline or SportsBetting on the Chico Network, Ignition or Bovada on the PaiWangLuo Network and Global Poker are all good options. Each has its pros and cons.

Michigan is close to having online, state-regulated poker. The state House and Senate voted yes, we are just waiting for the governor to sign the bill.

Can he sign it in 2019? Or is the deadline for signage before 2018 comes to a close? Either way, I wouldn't start celebrating until he does. I am not a Michander but here is to hoping that it does become the next state for legal online regulated poker. Then again, they say "hope" can be an ugly four letter word.

could you tell me what is your criteria for not recommending the wpn network? both my son and I are interested, since we both play on black chip. any others you'd recommend other than the few you already mentioned?

thanks in advance.

Mostly because everyone claims the boys ruin the game. Ignition is definitely softer than acr

I didn't make that post. Ignition or acr are fine imo. I live in Vegas now though. But I used to play both of those. Ignition had more players. I don't really notice the bots on acr.

Me not recommending the WPN sites specifically for new online poker players is based on a few different factors. They are one of the worst networks around when it comes to game integrity questions, particularly when it comes to botting. The games are significantly tougher there than the other options. There are several reasons for this. You have professional rakeback grinders, a huge rake race, a lot of bots, easy to use HUDs, datamining sites that provide detailed information to other players' HUDs of exactly how you play, no location restrictions, several shady skins which allow players to hop from one to another with new nicknames and an incompetent/unqualified security department.

If you plan on playing a lot of volume and would like rakeback, if you like rake races, if you like large MTT guarantees and/or if you prefer very long MTTs then it may be a good fit for you. Many of those things are not high on the priority list for new online poker players. Most new online poker players would have a much better experience on the softer sites.

The 4 networks with good traffic would be my highest recommendations, but WPN would obviously be last among them.
  • Chico Network - BetOnline and Sportsbetting
  • PaiWangLuo Network - Bovada and Ignition
  • Global Poker Network
  • Winning Poker Network - America's Card Room, Black Chip and True Poker

I would then recommend the regulated sites if you are in a regulated state.

After that there are several networks with less traffic, but you can find good games at times.

Those are:
  • SWC (formerly Seals with Clubs) - It's a Bitcoin poker site. They have many of the less popular poker variants.
  • Merge Network - Carbon, Sportsbook and PlayersOnly
  • Horizon Network - Intertops and Juicy Stakes
  • Nitrogen Sports - Another Bitcoin site
  • Grand Poker Network - 5 Dimes, Island Casino and SportBet

One other option is the app club sites like PPPoker. All of your transactions go through an agent who funds your account. You need to find an agent somewhere other than this forum. You also have to trust that this agent will pay you. I wouldn't recommend this option unless you are certain the agent is trustworthy and can guarantee your funds if their club has money issues.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

I don't have the answer to when/how he governor would sign. I assume that he is going to sign soon because he's about to be replaced (8-year term limit.)

By the way, the word we use is "Michigander," which was coined by
Abraham Lincoln. The legally correct word is "Michiganian", but no one uses it.

For Poker, Merge does not accept new accounts according to an email I received today:

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience but we no longer accept new accounts.

We really appreciate your interest but unfortunately we will not be able to offer you our services.

I appreciate you letting us know. I was under the impression that they were temporarily not accepting new players. That email seems to suggest that it is a permanent policy. I wonder why that is and how a room can survive like that?

Unless I'm mistaken, Merge has done this in the past, and more than once. My suspicion would be that it is once again temporary, in spite of their wording, but I guess time will tell.

Yeah they def were doing this as far back as 2011 and later allowed signups again.

I think the easiest way for online poker players to reconcile the network’s mysterious decisions, is to keep in mind that Merge is an online GAMING business, first and foremost. I would bet my paltry net worth that the majority of their revenue comes from casino/sports, but not poker.

My best guess? Current owners analyzed their internal data, the decline in online poker post-BF, and emphasized sports/casino offerings, sometimes at the expense of their poker room.

Their policies (randomly banning/table capping some winning players, removal of variants, smaller gtd) seem consistent w that vision. Some winning players/pros are necessary to keep around, so that a sports bettor has a game to play, on demand. But too many pros in the ecosystem, competeting for the same money that the operator wishes to acquire, results in a correction, via those policies that may irritate the poker player. The ethics of their decisions can be argued, but the mostly unregulated US online market protects shady operators (prob a big reason live poker hasn’t suffered nearly as much as online counterpart since BF)

There might be vocal critics, bc the network’s decisions hurt the critics’ bottom line. There is prob at least one supporter, bc the network’s decisions may help their bottom line. Individuals and businesses in online gambling looking out for their respective interests. Nothing wrong w that imho

Wsop

Deposit can be just about anything, cc, cash at the cage, ach, PayPal, netteller, paynearme.

Withdrawals are either cash at the cage or bank ACH transfer. I've always withdrawn from the cage. Usually takes around 2 hours. Could take up to 36 hours but I've never had it take more than a couple.
