Has anyone done this or are there other sites I can play on?
You need to get a copy of your lease and a utility bill (or bank statement works really well). To cut them off with many possible objections, I highly recommend that you get your documents notarized by a local notary before submitting them to Stars. Your realtor can probably help you with this if you're moving to one of the standard expat cities that poker players move too.

No. None of the US regulated states share liquidity with any other country. And they do not share liquidity among themselves (only the smallest state, DE, currently shares liquidity with NV).

ffs. no.
The DOJ had already loosened its stance on online poker. In fact, they did so the same year as Black Friday! The Wire Act was reinterpreted NOT to affect state lotteries, or online poker.

Still, I don't see anything happening on a Federal level any time soon. I think we're probably one good recession away from much of this gambling legislation falling by the wayside too.

You always need to do proper bookkeeping. Regardless of whether they take your SSN, it is your responsibility to keep records and pay the appropriate taxes on your winnings. Failure to do so can result in fraud charges from the IRS... and that is a can of worms you do not want to open.

You can buy Bitcoin with a credit card. There are many guides that will teach you how to purchase and use bitcoin for online gambling/poker.

There are also probably 4-5 networks (a dozen sites) that will take credit card deposits, depending on what state you reside in. All the major US networks and sites take CC deposits.

I am brand new to NLHE, I have been trying to learn it for less than 2 months. I have been losing pretty badly to even the micro stakes to be honest. I want to be able to see my statistics and figure out where my leaks are. Also it would be helpful to get some hand histories on my position as well.

I know there is some controversy on if that should be allowed or not, but as long as it's allowed on the particular site I'm playing on I don't see the problem. Also please spare me the "you don't need a tracker, just learn it this way" crap that I see coming a mile a way. Thank you for your answers, I appreciate it.

Great someone moved my thread over here. Well whatever, same question I guess. Which sites work with pokertracker? Betonline maybe? Are they legitimate?

pokertracker.com
holdemmanager.com

They both list the sites they work with. Neither are in the business of providing tracking for shady sites.

WSOP keeps track of your wins/losses and will give you a printout. Only scared nits do bookkeeping. If you file pro like me you just net wins and call it a day. Super easy. You have less than 1% chance of getting audited in your entire life so it's really not worth worrying about if you're paying your taxes in good faith for the most part. If I was recreational I'd still only net my wins and just play dumb if audited. As long as you're paying you're not going to get into any real trouble. Tax nits are the worst. The worst of the worst are the ones that actually keep accurate records of live sessions.

The other dozen US poker sites besides WSOP don't provide a quick and easy printout and people need to keep records.

Also, clearly you have a higher risk tolerance than many other people. Having to deal with the IRS is expensive monetarily (CPA, tax attorney, fines, fees, etc), time consuming, and stressful.

Back to poker - looking for site with sats

Hello,

I used to be rather active here. Life got busy and poker took a back seat. I am a US player (illinois) wanting back in. Looking for WSOP/WPT type satellites, some cash games, bonuses, and PokerTracker compatibility. Where to play?

WPN is pretty much your only option for those things.

As the poster above said, Winning Poker Network.

Outside of that, you can get everything but the WSOP/WPT satties at Horizon Network. Also, with the use of a hand history converter, you can play on Pai Wang Luo Network as well as Chico Poker Network.

What site is best for Limit Hold Em players in the U.S.?

Ignition seems to have killed off limit holdem for US players. I can never find a game or see who may be playing. I did see there are quite a few more poker sites that cater to US players. Does nyone know which is best for limit holdem players? Thanks

Any US facing sites that accept PayPal?

I’m thoroughly familiar that PayPal p2p transfers are prohibited. I recently was just sent a lot of money on PayPal. I’d love to use it for poker. Is there any (US facing) sites that allow PayPal deposit? I feel like I looked everywhere. Maybe someone here knows the answer? Any info would be great. Thanks.

P.s. I don’t have time to read through this entire site. Please no Mod infractions.

No one can see who is playing. With the introduction of "quick seat technology" the lobby no longer displays games as it once did. And as you may recall, full tables were always hidden. Just try joining the games, some still run.

While I don't personally recommend them, 2+2 does have a sponsored forum for Global Poker. They are the only site taking PayPal deposits: https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/252/global-poker/

Just be wary of the high rake on Global. They rape short handed games and have high rake for 6 handed at I think 2/4+ blinds and above if I remember correctly. Definitely look at their rake structure before you deposit.

This didn't get much traction in the Beginners Questions Thread, so trying over here:

I've recently moved to Nevada, and have briefly been trying out WSOP online since it's often referred to as the most legit site available here. From what I've read, NV regulations seem to make it difficult to automatically record hand histories and therefore build a database to study & improve from.

For those of you in Nevada, can you guys suggest a compatible pairing of 1. a poker site which allows for HH recording or downloading, and 2. a tracking software that allows me to analyze that data?

I'm most interested in improving my small/mid MTT game, and want to put in some decent volume online to be able to study my tendencies.

Thanks!

I believe WSOP.com is the only regulated option you have to play on in Nevada ( which shares liquidity with Delaware )

I also believe they pretty explicitly prohibit the use of tracking software with real time Huds - hence, no real time HHs.

There are probably ways around it, but definitely not worth it. You don't want to end up like this guy: Illegal HUD Use by Nevada Player Alleged at WSOP.com Site

Thanks- it's a shame that Nevada interprets the law the way they do, but I guess not much can be done about that. I completely agree it's not worth messing with prohibited software or VPNs etc.

Let's hope US online poker can make some pragmatic improvements in 2018!

You've probably clearly stated why that is in the past and regrettably I don't see and read enough of your posts, but could I inquire why you don't personally recommend them?
