I haven't followed online poker much for about five years. I've looked around a little and it seems like the action is very thin on sites that allow US players.

Is it still possible to be something like a high stakes online pro, however exactly one defines that, while playing on sites that allow US players?

If not did all the old high stakes pros move abroad or move to playing live after Black Friday?

Many poker pros moved to Mexico, Canada and Costa Rica or even tour Europe fwiw.

Depends on what you define as "high stakes" but IMO, it can be, and is done, by a number of people. Consider that the three largest US-friendly sites offer NLHE and PLO games with buy-ins maxing at $1,000 (Chico), $2,000 (Ignition, and $5,000 (WPN). A "high-stakes" pro would likely frequent all 3 sites in order to maximize action. He might even drift over to a bitcoin site like SWC in order to get in the occasional game of heads up vs random btc gamblers.

It's not like the old days where one could multi-table 50/100+ all day, but it is doable. There are quite a few guys making six figs a year who have never left the US and play solely on the sites available to them in the states.

Thanks for the replies.

Edited to add -

So what site does "Revolution Poker" in the OP refer to? Or does it need to be removed? Googling seems to indicate Lock Poker which I guess went under and InterTops which seems not to take US players.

Revolution is now called Horizon Network.

Intertops does take American players, as does Juicy Stakes. Those are the two US-friendly brands on Horizon. They accept/deny different groups of states. However, among the two of them, I believe 48 of 50 states are accepted.

Is there a sticky/tutorial for bitcoin? How to use, what I need, and hopefully something similar to this thread with pros/cons and reviews of the different services?

I'm looking for established (well regarded in the community), safe/secure, simple UI, etc.

Starting to play a little bit for the first time in a while. Is there any US-facing sites with any limit HE action?

I've looked at BCP and Ignition and hardly see anything, just making sure I am not missing anything or another site. Ty

I'm looking to back into poker for fun and my focus is $3-$10 NLHE MTT SNGs and MTT with 0 interest in cash games. I'm from Indiana and am fully willing to setup and use Bitcoin and I have a VPN in case that helps for access to anything in the modern day online poker world.

What are the best sites for bonuses and high player activity? An ability to play on my phone isn't a necessity, but definitely a plus.

Ignition has the most LHE action of any offshore site. BCP (aka Winning Poker Network) has the second most.

The action on Ignition is hidden somewhat. Full games disappear from the poker lobby. As such, the lobby may appear barren. If you wait around in the FLHE lobby however, games will open up with 5 of 6 players, as games that are full will reappear in the lobby once someone gets up from the table.

Indiana is wide open. Play any of the sites in the OP of this thread. The larger the site, the more of a chance you'll find what you're looking for. The offshore US sites, in order of size, according to PokerScout are as follows: Ignition, Winning Poker Network, Chico Poker Network, Horizon Network, Grand Poker Network.

I am an American player that likes to bet sports (primarily NCAAB) and sporadically like to play poker online. Is there a reliable poker room/sports betting site where I can do both as an American? I used to play on Bovada but can't do that anymore.

Just wanted to add that I tried AmericasCardRoom and I find their sports betting site to be completely untenable and frustrating. You can only log in on windows and only while the poker lobby is open. You can't acces sports from any phone or any place where you can't open the poker lobby (windows) and have to launch the sports betting site from the poker application. Its insane. So I am leaving ACR

Also forgot to add that I like to play limit hold em and limit Omaha8 and the highest limit game BetOnline has is 1.5/3.00 which is too small.

A word of warning: Dont expect to just sign up on Circle and do something immediately. I'm more than tilted that I'm allowed to get money onto their site 3 minutes after creating an account, and now we're on day 4 of not being able to transfer the funds elsewhere. Not surprised, but I am getting concerned/ angrier that its taking this long for someone to spend 2 minutes to look at my license and photo and release my account or whatever.

Went back and looked at my e-mails from Circle. It did take 5 days from verifying my e-mail address to depositing and transferring funds to my wallet. However, I did not have to provide a license or photo.

I doubt you'll find an American room with a sportsbook and great LO8 options, I think BetOnline is your best bet.

The best limit action is on Ignition. You said you can't play on Bovada, and that is likely because Bovada sold its poker business to Ignition. Now, if you were on a grandfathered account that was discontinued for the Ignition swap, that is unfortunate b/c there aren't that many other places to play limit games in any meaningful way within the US at this time. ACR is 2nd best.

I think you're just going to need to split your poker to one site and your sports betting to another. Use bitcoin (all US sites take it now) and then you can easily move money back and forth between the two.

What are you referring to with the grandfathered in stays? I haven't heard anything about that. Do some people get to play both Sportsbook and poker?

It is really something how the industry totally separated sports players and poker players. They were tired of poker players getting their money perhaps??

I think it's bad form on their part. They should be sunny to please customers instead of trying to extract every last penny their accountants told them they could get.

Not on a "Bodog Network" partner. Not from America at least.

Yes, for years sites have been blunting the edge of poker pros in order to improve margins.

Not likely I'm afraid. That's just not the way modern business tends to work.

Anyone have any thoughts or opinions on Merge/Carbon poker? I'd like to play on a NY site that allows me to track stats, so far the only software/poker-site combo I've found is PokerTracker and Carbon. Any input is appreciated.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately the client seems to be crappy. Real shame what happened to online poker, everything looks so sketchy and ghetto these days. I don't even know where to start.

What do you mean by "the client seems to be crappy." Are you referring to the software or something else? The software is second to none, imo.

Carbon no longer accepts US players. Nor does anyone on the Merge Gaming Network.

When Merge was in the US market, they had the best software of all. In fact, behind PokerStars, I'd say Merge's poker client is a solid 2nd best.

Well when I checked the link Bobo Fett posted I saw 2-3 recent complaints about lag/glitching/crashing, but I guess it's a moot point if they're not taking new players.

Yes, absolutely. I missed that one. Also I got some nice leads from the software forum, so I'm going to start with BOL, Grand, and WPN and just see how it goes.

Thanks for the help - one more donk coming in.
