I'm planning a trip to Turkey within the next month. I am reading up on rules and regulations and it appears as though Turkey has strong laws against gambling online. Does anyone know if Turkey blocks internet access to Full Tilt or PokerStars?

You won't be able to play in Turkey at all. Last time I was there, my laptop stayed in my bag. It's a good thing though; Turkey (Istanbul) is an amazing city; don't waste your time grinding.

I remember I could play Sun Poker 2 years ago, but that was before it joined iPoker network - I'm not sure what happens now...

Unfortunately, I'm visiting Ankara - won't have much time for fooling around, as it's a business trip. However, getting back the hotel at night, I'm going to have free time. In preparation of the "just in case" scenario, I added VPN to my home network so that maybe I can play over VPN.

Why not use a vpn tunnel? May cost a few $, but should bring you right to your known site and the provider cant see you play onlinepoker.

lol, do not worry about being knocked at the door by the police, there are lots of players playing online from turkey, including me.

if you are a taxpayer in turkey and are submitting your returns to turkish authorities, i recommend using neteller for poker transactions. the tax officers will make you sweat hard, asking you to explain where that money came to your account from and whether you have issued a legal invoice for such sale/service.

I am planning to move to Turkey (Izmir) and am playing poker for living. However I can't find any information regarding taxes and legality of online poker in Turkey. I am pretty sure it is illegal, but I got questions about taxes, fines etc. and looking for someone who could give me this information.

Why is my question moved? I emailed Pokerstars and they say u can play in Turkey. There is also some players at stars from Turkey. My stay in Turkey won't be for a short period. I am planning staying there for at least a year.

Pokestars.net is blocked in Turkey although you can access pokerstars.com for free play. Apparently they started blocking it around March of 2012. The only way to access it would be through VPN. I am living here myself and interested in signing up for a money account here but have yet to do so. I'm one step away from trying it to see what happens since Pokerstars still lists it as a country from which you can fund an account however I have read that like the U.S. that Turkey has passed banking laws that prohibit transactions with gambling sites so who knows?

I would really appreciate finding a local player here who has played online to hear what the ins and outs of it are.

Are you still able to play from Turkiye? Have you had any issues lately? I am considering trying to access Pokerstars from here but haven't attempted it yet. If I have a VPN service that gives me a U.K. address can I access them or will I have to find another VPN which will show an I.P. from some other country in Europe? (sorry if these are naive questions but I really am completely new to this).

I am currently in Turkey as an Erasmus student and i play almost every day. Till now i havent got any problem i just cant access the withdrawals or transfer money to another player. I think once i get back to Portugal i will be able to withdraw my money.

i also have some doubts and i am afraid they(Fulltilt and pokerstars) may block my account.

i spoke to a lot of turkish people about this and nobody knows nothing about this and they just dont play. However i remember to see some turkish players on pokerstars a few months ago.

My theory is that foreign people are able to play here but not to make money transactions because of the turkish government policies. I just hope im right..

come on guys. In turkey you can sell forgeries in a shopping mole and police does not care. so just dont care about them.

If pokerstars.net is only being blocked by the isp and not Pokerstars. The software will probably work with out a vpn once you have downloaded it.
