Make sure when you are on FB to hit up Michele Bachmann and Eric Cantor. Both have huge followings and we don't want them to be vocal enemies.

I posted to Cantor:
Please help to restore poker players' rights to enjoy online poker. Regulate it , tax it but give us back our liberties to enjoy our pastime in our own homes. Thousands of jobs created and millions if not billions in tax revenue. Government stepping on our toes. Isn't this something more like how China governs their citizens?

And something similar to Mchele Bachmann

Thank you LastLife and TheEngineer for all your hard work and efforts.
The online poker community owes you.

I'm guessing Bachmann is the rep for the district that has Minneapolis/St. Paul? She actually had quite a few non-poker posts on her wall.

  1. Fox News Sunday is seeking input for questions for Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) for this Sunday's show. Let's upvote the poker questions and submit our own: http://www.foxnews.com/on-air/fox-ne...day/look-ahead
  2. The Daily Show is seeking input for story ideas. Let's ask them to cover our issue: http://forums.thedailyshow.com/?page...hread_id=40873
  3. Investor's Business Daily responded to a Facebook post requesting coverage of Black Friday, asking if others would like coverage. Let's reply affirmatively: http://www.facebook.com/permalink.ph...00000102517352
Recurring actions:

Let's continue to own a lot of Facebook pages (senators, Congressmen, Congressional committees, etc.). Rep. Barton has cited our Facebook posts, so we know it works.

  • The House Financial Services Committee's Facebook page is here.
  • Let's get some posts on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce page (here)
  • The Dept. of Justice's page is here.
  • Senators' FB pages: Senator Facebook Listing
  • We need lots of posts on the issue of poker and lots of "liking" of pro-poker comments.
Let's also all send the PPA pre-written letters to our lawmakers. These will be updated when Rep. Barton's poker bill is introduced to the House (in other words, soon), so let's all get the current letters out before that. Once done, please reply ITT with "done", "sent", etc. to encourage others. Thanks!

Finally, let's recruit others. Our personal recommendations of this effort will go far. The daily action plan takes very little time and there's no denying it's way +EV for the time invested. Once done, please post here that you made the request, along with posting your personal commitment to participate in the action plan. I created a short URL for this thread that should help with sharing: http://******/takeaction

That's because she has 200k+ followers. She is also a top tea party member. If we can get her to change her mind, if would be a big step in the right direction.

Done, except that I have not posted yet on The Daily Show board yet, but the field producer said this was big news so we should definitely make a large showing. There are people doubting that thousands of us are out of jobs/hobby and we need to show them how many of us there really are.

Someone was asking for links to statistics on the thread on The Daily Show, I didn't do much searching because I figure someone else on here has a more concise figure, but someone needs to post some statistics on the number of online poker players. I saw that there are some stats on the PPA website but a lot of them have citations from 2005-2006, I think we need a more recent estimation.

Okay, folks, here's the deal when it comes to posting on our wall about online poker: Ryan Byrne just posted to our wall on the subject. Any other posts must be attached to his as a comment. Further wall posts will be deleted. We're glad to hear what people have to say but we won't have you spamming our wall. You've been warned.
This is something we'll want to do for all the Facebook posting we do, IMO.

For politicians, let's try to keep it to one post visible on the wall at all times -- that post preferably made by a constituent who identifies himself/herself as one -- with the rest of us liking and commenting to that post. This will allow us to make our case without generating negative reactions from the owners of the pages.

Thanks!

I am a frequent viewer of your channel and I really enjoy Mad Money, the Kudlow Report and Fast Money. During market hours I flip channels betwenn all three business networks but I prefer your network. Although I have seen some coverage of "Black Friday", May 15th, the day the DOJ siezed the domain names of the three biggest online poker companies, I believe this story warrants much more coverage. The story is huge and involves millions of people. I would like to see serious debate on the pros and cons of regulating and legalizing online poker. Would it help the economy by creating thousands of jobs? Would the billions of tax revenue help the deficit? Seeing your many knowledgable guests share their ideas / opinions in depth would be fascinating to a great many people, regardless of their responses.
I am pro-online poker legalization but am open-minded enough to respect opinions from either side. I just think it is a big story that is mostly being ignored. There are many side-stories that could also be covered such as one of the sites refunding players' money while the other two have made no refunds as of yet. Check out the details...it involves many millions of dollars. More in-depth coverage and debate would be very benificial to your network and would give your network huge exposure on the many internet poker forums, 2+2 forum being the largest. No matter that people agree / disagree with the opinions of your experts, the discussion in the forums would bring your brandname into the limelight and would surely increase your viewership. Please note that I'm speaking of poker and not gambling sites.
Best regards,
XXX

The previous was a reply from CNBC when I communicated with them a few days ago.
Should I write them back? If so, any suggestions as to what I should say?

Note: LastLife already pointed out to me I got the date of BF wrong.

Thanks LastLife. I did also write to Bloomberg News, CNN, Fox News Channel and Fox Business Channel.

Do you think it would be okay to ask them to E-Mail to let me know when they plan on having a discussion regarding BF and I could spread the word on the forum?
Or just a waste of time?

FWIW, I'm primarily a B & M player and this just as much a matter of principle
as it is getting back my rights to play online whenever I choose.

Nonetheless, I have put in a lot of effort following your advice and taking action.

Good job, fellas.

Investors Business Daily is responding positively, as are some of the other news sites.

Senator John Boozman (Arkansas), whom I believe has historically been against us, acknowledged the issue and made a post for us to comment in (keep it civil if you comment here, and keep the poker stuff in that thread as he has requested): https://www.facebook.com/notes/john-...61394110594649

I made a thread in The Economist's Facebook discussion page. Jump in there and comment! Remember that the readers of that board are not poker players and may be of the impression that playing online is illegal. Let's educate them.

I just posted in your great Economist thread. Real good idea on your part.

But I have a question: On John Boozers page I couldn't find a "Like" button to Like the page so I could Like some posts. This has happened to me before. Any guidance would be appreciated.

LastLife are you awake? If so, I would "Like" a reply to this.
