VIP program changes:

SilverStar VIP level will be lowered to 1,200 VPPs a month.
GoldStar VIP level will be lowered to 3,000 VPPs a month.
PlatinumStar VIP level will be lowered to 7,500 VPPs a month.

Supernova and Supernova Elite players will be able to retain their status
the following year until end of September provided they meet the current
play requirements. This will start now for the 2008 SN and SNEs.

Milestone bonuses will become cash credits. This means once a player hits
200,000 VPPs for 2009 he will be able to obtain a $2,000 cash credit for
50,000 FPPs, without a need to earn further 10,000 VPPs. That is not fully
automated yet, but we plan to enable players to buy these bonuses directly
from the VIP Store, so there won't be a need to wait for processing of the
bonuses as we have it now.

The $50,000 VIP weekly event will become a $75,000 event with 12 minute
blinds.

The $20,000 VIP weekly event will become a $30,000 weekly event.

Concierge will change slightly. Changes include a player may only use the
service once a month with a max of three receipts. We will have clear
rules for what may be submitted on the website by end of February.

All of the above changes will take place starting March 1st, 2009. Not
promising, but we may introduce further changes later in the year. Keep the
ideas coming.

First.

Changes that affect SNE's, their status last longer the year after. Milestone bonuses dont really do much, since most continue playing, but makes it sound good. Good to see the weekly event higher, still doesnt change the fact I wont be playing them.

PlatinumStar and lower changes no good to me. So bascially, no changes for me

Sounds like some decent changes, but I await the experts' opinions.

Will Concierge still be available at $500+?

This is very good. It is worth an extra $7,500 for me personally. (That is, someone going for 1,250,000 VPPs for the year spread out equally.) For many others it will have a similar value.

It would have been nice to have known this on January 1st though, as myself and several other SNE failed to reach 50k VPP for that month. Whereas if I had known that I now have to go eight more months (instead of just five) without failing to reach 50 VPP I'd have ensured that I achieved it in January.

Not a big deal, but obviously good to see.

Waste of f**king time and effort for many of us. Although I would be tempted to play if blinds were just 1 or 2 minutes.

Overall pleasing changes personally as the first point is great news for just about all current SNE players.

Although seriously, not too bad for SNE's, but these changes do almost nothing for the players in the 200k-800k VPP range who still dont want to play the Saturday freeroll. All of those players would keep their supernova status by July 1st easily.

I guess not clearing the milestones is nice. Concierge change isnt as bad as I thought it would be I guess.

Scotty
I am confused. How is this better for a supernova player. Is it because you don't have to reach 100,000 VPPs by July 1st to stay supernova? So basically two extra months to reach 100,000 VPPs.

If this is all it means it seams like not a big deal for supernova players because most of us will reach 100,000 VPPs in a couple months.

Actually it's 3 months, since it's till the end of September, and I imagine there are a lot of SNs that would benefit from the extra 3 months.

True and true. I see your point.

I'm disappointed because it doesn't help players that easily get supernova but have no shot at elite. I can see this benefiting the elites a lot more.
