New player here. I've played play money poker for a long time before this and very consistently (no idea why i never played real money online) and kept up with the poker scene in general.

1 - 2 months back, i decided to play online on a whim, after reading The Biggest Bluff, and about Phil's epic comeback against venividi1993.

Needless to say, RIO is the site i chose. I signed up for GGPoker (im based in Asia), but for some reason, never felt like depositing money in there.

As you can tell from now, i'm as rec as they come.

Why RIO? Well, i read more on Phil, all the post on RIO.eu and i became a huge fan of him, and RIO has quite frankly the most beautiful software for poker.

I think i lost about 20-30 buyins on NL4 (up and down), very happily i might add, before i started to play a bit more seriously and deposited a much larger amount, i now play, NL4, 10, 20 or 50 depending on mood.

If i could describe the players there, its clear that many players there are playing while having a chart from Upswing or RIO open, and following it to the T. They often have opens of like 18-28%

I signed up for Upswing and did the same, and only lost money slower haha.

So decided to **** that, and play it more fun (30-40% opening) and play my/their range, throw in large and aggressive donk bets, smack them hard on tough boards, tilt the hell out of people etc, and get them to call me on a flush board with a single pair. Haha

And i then won back about 15 buyin's lol, still volatile but better. Honestly i love the experience on this site.

If i could recommend a few things it is this.

1) Shortdeck please.
2) Hand strength (honestly i started playing PLO, 10,20 or 50 depending on what is available and i have no idea what i have sometimes if i'm 2-4 tabling.)
3) P2P Transfers or Bank Transfer option. I hate paying netteler, skrill and my credit card fees and forex fees. Its almost 7.5% just to transfer money into my account.

That is what I'm saying, but I think I don't I get the point.

I can only say that sitting and waiting for a good hand is not good poker, it's especially miserable to do it at a stake not worth playing.

But if that stake had a dynamic that was more similar to the higher stakes environment, then maybe it does have a little more worth (depending how involved/ambitious you are with poker).

Also it's sad for me to be on a poker forum that see's lag as a strategy too complex to bother learning or even as a table dynamic too hard to play on (even if it's just for pennies).

Playing tight and good hands doesn't mean it's not good poker if you make money that way. And don't get it what stakes has to do with anything. No offence but you come as a guy who watched hsp back in the day and making zero equity bluffs 400bb deep is the way to play "good" poker. Good poker is poker where you make money and it doesn't matter if you play nit tag pio lag or maniac.

Well I am actually very offended by that, yes.

All those extra games require extensive programming.

I think RIO is missing out by not offering HU PLO tables for regular players.

like come on, you can't just tease us with galfond challenge and makes us play 6 max only

If they come, yes, probably.

So they release a teaser about sit and goes but still havent arranged any beta SNG testing for the leaderboard finishers...

Over/under on SNGs being introduced before the new year? I’ve been waiting nearly two years to deposit here.

We want to encourage recs to play on rio. You know the recs that like sngs, tournies and playing on their phone

If only there was a mobile version lol. Which it needs imo. For reasons mentioned above.

They must be down so much money at this point. Which is sad and funny bc it is so obv you can't survive without a mobile/tourney rec market. Their supposed mission is to have fun but you better have fun at a ring game on your laptop lolololollll (and I never lol)

Can't see many people wanting play same format but without jackpot, basically more boring spin.

Same liquidity is cool but expecting 90%+ jackpot spins traffic. Will see.

The software crashed like 3 times for me. I've already withdraw all my money because is impossible to play their sng. I lost one of them and is frustating.

And the traffic is awful.

Anyone playing sngs? Any traffic during eu hours?

What are they offering sng's for? There is no traffic. Its too late, how is it so hard to understand u need mtt's and freerolls to attract new players?

I had a little problem with the withdrawals, but they solved that pretty quick. That's good.

Honestly just need to get rid of the grinders. Sure ggpoker is unethical but at least they are making the recs happy and not supporting grinders.

RIO is doing the polar opposite.

Attracting recs is not equal to making life impossible to grinders. They need more merchandising.

Yeah grinders hate those rushcash leaderboards that makes you grind a lot. Just bloody awful m8.
