I got that $500 bonus too. Exactly the biggest reason to grind there has now been taken away, all sites offer 30% so there's no incentive to carry on grinding there.

In fact some sites do still offer an added rake race. Not so sure it has anything to do with the sites going broke but more that they want to make a quick buck.
Those rake races have been going strong for several years.

It is only recent that players started to rake more, ie last year 3k rake would net you $300, last race 3k rake nets you $150. Seems to me they were making money on those races, now lets see if players start moving elsewhere.

Alex Scott once confessed that 'almost every' MPN operator was for banning leaderboards on the entire network. Perhaps the reason why races awarding cash prizes were still allowed was that some big operators like the Betsson group were blocking the vote on the network board.

As you've noticed, rake chases are still possible, but they now award seats in an auto-all-in (flip) freeroll (with the stack size depending on the rake) instead of a cash prize, so those who rake less get a bigger return % (a bigger expected share of the prize pool relatively to their rake) because the freeroll is not winner-take-all.

That's exactly why I think it has nothing to do with them going broke, they are still offering 20k in prizes. It does really make me wonder why they have decided to go down this route (flip for money = gamble, no skill involved)

I guess it's not exactly a money grab either!

Also even if you rake less compared to top rakers it is not a win win for you. You could in fact end up with less money this way.

They were steadily building up a nice player base and now this happens. This will hurt most everyone in the region of 5-25% a month.

I guess now that they have built up a player pool the greed sets in, did they not take notice what happened to Ipoker network and all the players that left?
Thanks for posting, Was just about to deposit to grind a rake race so saved me the hassle

Trying to get rid of heavy grinders (aka bots)? Just noticed these promos myself and wont be grinding there in the future. No reason to pay massive ammounts of rake ja cross my fingers I'll get some extra back. Races and chases were good mainly because it was easy to estimate monthly returns and go 24/7 grind if needed.

The variance of affiliate promo winnings is usually lower than the variance of poker itself, except for nanostake grinders.

Anyone tried out the grosvenor cash race?

The betsson €100,000 GTD tourney looks like a cracker also given the seats they are giving away. Really pleased with the direction MPN are taking, games are still beatable by a decent clip.

Grosvenor & 32RED have profit races on there sites. Probably why there allowed by the network the run races like this as its not based on rake.

I'd cash out now if you can.
Update: Loco made all back payments and I hope going forward will be more forthcoming, going for weeks without an email or skype answer is not the way to keep players.

pokerloco has always been dodgy, its not a recent development. not sure why anyone chooses to risk it on that skin when their are more reputable ones on the network

Can you not change the colour of the back of the cards? They're tiny and green on SJ and I am having trouble seeing who is still in the pot.

Cheers
