Self-exclusion now unilateral on PokerStars accounts Self-exclusion now unilateral on PokerStars accounts

Hey all

Just wanted to make the community aware of a new Stars policy that has come to my attention today.

I have fully verified poker accounts on Pokerstars.es and Pokerstars.eu. They are both separate accounts as many people are probably aware and have accounts at both sites.

I self-excluded my .es account back in April for 6 months. At that time, it didn't affect my .eu account but apparently due to a new ruling it does!

I now must wait until October before I can have my .eu account back despite playing on it for the past few months without any issues.

It seems unfair, but there's no talking to them. Their support will no longer enter further dialogue with me regarding this matter.

PS: Mods, not sure if this is the correct spot to post but feel free to move.

Peace,
UP4D

Why? Are you less of a risk to yourself on one account than another? That's exactly Stars' reasoning here and I'm surprised this wasn't done since day one.

This.

I could see them perhaps having a way to exclude from just one site if it's for security reasons (for example, travelling and won't be using one account for a few months), but otherwise it makes sense to me that the exclusion would be for all accounts.

Knowing OP's full story, I still think it's a bit unfair that this was suddenly done on .eu without warning and without him having a say in the matter, because this was clearly not what he intended when he self-excluded on .es. Support should have at least addressed his objections to this a bit better.

I'm aware of the purpose of self-exclusions and it may make sense in general to handle it the way Pokerstars is doing it now. It just led to very annoying and inconvenient results in this particular case.

I'm surprised that it didn't previously work like this.

If you just want to disable one account and not the other (for some reason) then you can just email them anyway and ask for that.

Yep. Except in my case this happened on 8th April (I excluded .ES) for 180 days. 15th of April I excluded my .EU for 30 days. Reason for exclusion was final year exams and assignments which finished up on June 27th.

Got my EU acc back on 14th June (in fact I got a mail from Stars to say my self-exclusion had ended) and played intermittently between then and Wednesday when I got an email to say I was no longer allowed.

Anyways, the point of this thread was to make others aware. I know that I must sit out until October and I'm fine with it. It's a nuisance that a change of rules can be applied retrospectively like they were in this case. Had I known back in April that this would have happened then I wouldn't have excluded for so long but cannot change it now

Despite being in self exclusion I've received 3 mails from BetStars and one from PokerStars telling me about the upcoming MicroMillions!

Talk about kicking a guy when he's down on the ground!

FACEPALM!

They should probably stop promoting their gambling business, when you're excluded for gambling for whatever reason. Poor form, stars.
