A very marginal edge, based off of some hypothetical theory.
There's been several times where I've signed up as player 1 just to get the SnG going, and then after a few people sign up, unregistered, let another person sign up, and then register again, just to get a higher numbered seat (I usually play hypers, where sitting immediately to the right of a good player isn't necessarily a good thing since there's little post-flop play). Usually, I don't bother, though, since I often get distracted and don't reregister in time.

And like GoDeViLs said, consecutive seating makes any potential collusion a lot easier, as well.

Surprised that someone with 17K+ posts would post what is in the top 10 of the dumbest things I have ever read on 2+2.

Sounds reasonable. But when blinds get high and its shove shove shove... Its all out the window

Leave them open and just minimize them and check back in 5 minutes it will be updated.

I know, right? More like 20k+ posts with gimmicks and 10 years as a pro poker player, and I still post things about poker that seem incredibly dumb to some fish. I'm sure that of the two of us, you're probably the expert.

Or, wait, maybe the fact that an all in button shows up sometimes and not at other times might actually have a minor psychological affect on how some people play. Just maybe.

Imagine if a dealer at a live table would count your stack and compare it to the pot and then if it was short enough ask if you wanted to go all in, but only if your stack was the right size. LOL

i know HUDs won't be able to analyze other players, but can it analyze me? Will it tell me my vpip/pf/etc.. numbers? Can it label me lag/nit/rock ? Which HUD would be the best to help tell me about myself so I find leaks.

Also, what if i play SNG vs cash? I'm sure with all the shoving in SNGs being labeled nit/lag is diff from cash.

I haven't given this much thought, but I thought it only showed up if your only raise was an all-in. For example if someone bet 50BB and you only had 90BB.

To record and analyze your hands you need two pieces of software,

Bovada Hand Converter, this converts Bovada formatted hands to pokerstars hands for import into Holdem Manager, or Poker tracker.

Then you will need a hand data base either of the above work well. They both have free trials to give a feel to them.

both will give you every kind of stat you can imagine but you will have to decide what they tell you. They can help find the leaks but they can't tell you what the leaks are. SNG/Cash both are available to be converted and analyzed

If you want a hud and a simpler database (I don't use the db, but use the HUD there is Holdem Indicator .. Hud only works for a player while at the table once they leave the data is gone.

Yep, from what I've noticed, it really is that simple.

When "all in" is less than "pot", it will say "all in". Otherwise, it will say "pot".

That's probably how it is supposed to work, but what I have noticed is that anytime my stack is less than the pot, the 1/2 pot and pot buttons go away and only all-in is there. Even if I am first to act. I can still min bet, bet 1/2 pot, 1/4 pot, type in some random bet, check, etc., but those predefined 1/2 and pot buttons are gone. Seems to be the same even if I am facing a bet and CAN raise less than all in. I see it as long as, when the action gets to me, my stack is less than the pot. So maybe it is a bit like AlexM says: "hey just go all-in, m'kay?"

I attribute it to poor programming more than some devious plan to encourage all-ins though. Too many other examples of the quality of programming here for me to think otherwise. But, hey, maybe it is the greatest guise ever and I am believing what they want me to believe. Get out of my head Bovada!

What you are saying is the same thing I just posted that I noticed and what ALexM is complaining about. What Halstad is saying is how it should work: When facing a bet and your only legal raise is all-in then it should show all-in. Not just show all-in because your stack is small relative to the pot and eliminate all other buttons.

Not sure if you're asking about what the logic is for the button showing up, or if you're just pointing it out. The logic seems to be, if the amount in your stack is less than the amount of a full pot bet/raise, the pot button changes to all-in. I seem to remember FullTilt acting similar, although I can't say for sure. I can say that the pot vs. what a pot bet is acts similar to how FTP did it. The main pot shows the amount minus the rake, but the pot bet button calculates the pot including rake.

I haven't played in a few years but I'm thinking about starting up again. How fast are the payouts running on Bovada now? Any major issues with the site lately?

Between 5-8 calendar days has been the reported payout average this month across all payout methods (reported = players reporting their date of request/date of receiving on this and other forums I track). Some have received checks inside of 4 days, while WU/MG (cash transfer) options are running at a 7 day reported average this month. That average is up a few days from the past few months, but seems to have been a momentary spike, as rarely occurs from time to time.

Site's been running smoothly. MTT options continue to expand (just saw they've once again expanded guarantees on their daily schedule), and Pokerscout ranks Bovada consistently as #1 in terms of cash game traffic among US available rooms.
