Re: *** Unofficial Bovada Thread ***

If this is even possible, I thought of a bug in Bovada's poker software that hasn't even been mentioned on here. What is up with your cursor turning into a resize symbol at random like you are resizing the table and your cursor is on the border.... but it isn't. And it doesn't go away unless you actually resize the table.

How long will they go before the bugs in this software are fixed? This is getting ridiculous. I don't have any complaints about their service, everything else including payouts is just fine. The software just has too many unexcusable bugs...

Can anyone tell me how long the Lucky Draw Weekly is? I have obligations later in the night, but I think that it should only last a few hours. Correct?

LOL its not rigged..... there are just more common coolers now. Set over set.... turned set for gutter straights on super draw heavy boards..... the famous K9 in the blinds flopping 2nd straight to some drooler with AK.... lmao.... its all good though. I love the pocket 33.... catching the 3 on the river.

Obviously its much harder to dispute since we don't have HUDs anymore to analyze hands and trends. Well done bodog.... well done. The coolers keep the donk droolers happy so I don't mind. Just pick up on the trend you'll recognize it. Otherwise everything else is ok. Game flow sucks and software blows.

I hate not being able to drag the tables until the dumb thing beeps..... holy **** is that annoying as ****. Then every time you're trying to type that thing resets if its not your action..... thats awful. They're doing everything right to make people tilt much faster..... lol.

I have recently begun experiencing Bovada client crashes while playing, and they have been fairly frequent. Has anyone else experienced program crashes?

Doesn't holdem indicator work at least that is what I herd. I wanted to test it before I purchased it so I did on play money table and it seem to work fine so I am going to give it a shot and purchase it.

^^You read more and more posts about the site being rigged. I guess some folks aren't used to AA not holding, a 70-30 hand getting caught on the river, etc. It's poker folks, suckouts happen all day everyday. Just keep getting your chips in ahead and you'll be fine. I get a bad beat or 10 everyday I play but I shrug it off and load up the next SNG because I know I'll the buyin back eventually.

Re: *** Unofficial Bovada Thread ***

So before deciding to deposit on Bovada, i thought it would be wise to come to these threads and get some valuable information on my potential future investment. I'm a fellow US player (obv) who made a very good living pre-BF and like alot of other ppl on here, have been reduced to grinding exclusively live since. After 9ish months, the brutalness has taken its toll: hence my decision to explore shady online options. While reading the Bovada threads, and mostly this one; the same few subjects seem to come up over and over again. These are:

1. The software is terrible

2. Anon tables are terrible

3. results orientated ppl/fish complaining how terrible they're running and trying to blame it on the software/some giant conspiracy by bovada to get there 20$ and take over the world.

4. That one dude who thanked Bovada for him running bad or w/e b/c now hes been shown the light, switched to live, has had a few sessions that i can only assume he ran out of this world great and now assumes his expectation is 200$/hr at 2/5 and will take over the poker world along with Bovada. (this wasnt so much an occurring theme/post, def one of the funniest things i saw tho, its going to be cool when this dude gets slapped by some actual variance and blows his roll in 5 sessions.)

5. Cashout issues.

The 3 issues i like to address are 1, 5, and most importantly; 2.

1. The software sucks. Ive played 3 sessions so far. Pre BF, i played exclusively on Stars (the software nuts). This software abs sucks. NUFF' said. All we can do is hope they continue to upgrade and we will poss see a better product soon. From reading this entire thread i can see that things were much worse a month ago, and they have made some progress on that front, so at least their showing signs of progress. I will say this, my first session was on Jan 18th & while many of these bugs are god awful and inexcusable; they are relatively small and are not detrimental to our bottom line.

5. Cashouts. The general consensus is that their cashouts are reliable. Here and there there are rando's complaining about a bad experience, but they dont seem to be very credible IMO and naturally i will believe the overwhelming majority of ppl that testify that our money is safe on this site barring DOJ interference. By this fact alone (that cashouts are reliable/safe), coupled with the current status of the online poker world, is all that ***** matters (*assuming that security is not an issue.) I dont want to hear about the software. It sucks, get over it. I dont want to hear about running bad, it sucks, get over it. I dont want to hear about Bovada not giving a **** about their customers; what do you expect from a company who has little to no competition in a devastated market? The fact remains that there are little to no viable options in the US right now for online poker players. The other sites have all the same problems as bovada im assuming (software, cust service, etc). But from what ive read, it seems bovada has a leg up with cashouts. Which is once again, aside from player security; all that ***** matters.

2. Anon tables. I saved this last because i feel this is the most important issue, and the only one that requires feedback. Once again, throughout this post i've heard ppl bashing this anon feature. And for the record, even after only 3 sessions, i completely agree. Its moronic, in every sense of the word. But im not here to say why its moronic, BECAUSE THATS NOT THE POINT. Once we conclude that this feature is terrible, which we have, we have two options. 1. Dont expose yourself to it (stop playing there). 2. Deal with it. People have chosen option 1, and i dont fault them for it as playing on bovada is, at best, choosing the lesser of 2 evils. But as i explained before: considering the current online situation in the US, and the lack of options regarding other sites; many people, like myself, will be forced to deal with this terrible feature.
Last i checked, this is a STRATEGY forum. And while ive heard a ton mindless babble, bitching, complaing, etc. I can count on one hand the # of posts ive read dealing with strategy and how we should be playing/adjusting to this new feature. What bovada has done IS groundbreaking, in the sense that nowhere else in the poker world will you ever play under these circumstances. That being said, only here can we brainstorm ideas on how to deal with this newly created atmosphere. So lets put the bitching aside and brainstorm what the best adjustments are to play optimally. What effects from having little to no meta-game have on playing conditions? How is our hand selection & our opening ranges effected.....even other ranges such as 3/4 betting? Optimal BLuffing Freq? These are just a few of the things ive contemplated over my first 3 sessions. And while i have my own opinions on these subjects, i would like to hear yours........

I recognise that quote may or may not be aimed at me, but either way it comes across as a petty online v live player jibe, with little substance. So you didn't like/adapt/do well live and wish those that have done so fail; and you think will be cool if they do, to add insult to injury. Sad. I know have run well so far. I know I will run bad at some point. I do "owe" online for improving my play drastically and much more quickly than I could ever have done live. I have just found I much prefer live to sitting in front of my PC. The social interaction and actually being around my opponents, watching and reacting to them rather than my hud and or screen. The option to play in different places. I find it all much much more stimulating face to face.

I don't play solely for the money (ie pro or semi pro - all my money just goes back into my roll to try and go as high as I can to test myself and see where that plateau is, where I can't get further). I play for the metal stimulation and fun of it and try to improve and never played more than four tables at once, usually just two. I perhaps should have mentioned my route to live is perhaps not for those looking to build a roll and live on, I certainly respect online poker players - well, the objective ones at least - and their abilities and think that came across in my post.

Re: *** Unofficial Bovada Thread ***

Most of all live is MUCH easier than online as the quailty of players is a lot worse on average. There are great players but spread across many more bad ones. I miss 6max action but that's one of the adaptions required. Less volume but much bigger win rate for average players. I have played locally, and 2 x two week trips to Hollywood Hard Rock Fl. and Vegas @ Bellagio and some Aria in that time and win or lose (but yes I did win, doubling my whole roll on each successive trip - run good yes but not extraordinary, yet impossible for a player with my ability at Bodog nl100/200).

They are weaker games than nl100 without any doubt despite a small sample. I suspect a tiny percentage of Bodog players between BF and anon tables had a decent win rate at nl100/200. I plodded along against the good regs, the influx of nl400/600/1000 regs that dropped down for bankroll issues and the games were tough to make any money in. I consider breaking even over that period w/out r/b a big acheivement. Good luck hand to hand in the jungle.

Essentially what Bodog is trying to do is dumb down the game which is great for their typical drooler donk sports betting customers who feel like they are losing too quickly when they take their new casino winnings to the poker side.

The best approach is now to simply play ABC straight forward poker. You're average Bovada anonymous opponent will sit at a table for maybe 100 hands with you if you're lucky. Over the course of 100 hands you may be able to pick up some reads and maybe go to showdown a couple of times. This means we really don't know the true tendencies of our opponent. We can use a little cheese ball HUD like hold em indicator but its not that helpful. Hold Em indicator is great for IDing fish within several hands and that's who you should be going after anyway since this is the reason why we are even still sticking with a **** hole garbage site like Bovada. (and cash outs too obv)

Solid ABC poker and a very tight 3betting game should be the norm playing these tables. Solid ABC poker will own all the FPS regs still left over because they'll be much slower to adjust. The fish will donate as always.

We now also have to watch out for a huge increase in short stackers as well.
