Well I decided to start working on my backlog of UB bonus $$. I hadn't been on UB in quite some time and I've seen that they've got a Bad Beat Jackpot going now. Which I personally hate. I hate how they take .50 out of the pot to put towards the jackpot. That .50 really adds up to a lot for someone who plays NL50. It takes my profit margin WAY down. So i try to play at tables that aren't jackpot tables, but more players are on the jackpot tables. Enough whining... TO THE QUESTION- Do you guys play at UB more or less or the same since the Bad Beat Jackpot was implemented?

I play high enough where it doesn't affect me really. I've heard the low stakes players complain but the games are increasingly soft because of this added rake.

Scansion, how does the added rake make the game softer? I could see people sticking in with their pp's more often hoping to take a bad beat, but other than that it would have to be a ton softer to make up for UB taking 1 BB out of most pots.

UB has nowhere NEAR the game selection of Stars or FT. This amounts to like -15% rakeback, you realize?

So the net difference btwn FT and UB is like 47% rakeback.

Less and it's not close. The rake is really bad unless you are playing mid/high stakes. For ssnl and small stakes limit, it is awful.

I'm currently grinding it out at 10nl, where the jackpot isn't in effect. (Had a good week, hope to be back in 25nl soon). However, I think I'd keep playing 25nl a long time before I'd graduate to 50nl with the extra .50/pot rake. When I look at the percentage of my winnings I give back in rake, I know I'm not good enough to lose another big blind per pot won.

Until this week, I was convinced that a lot of good nits had dropped down to avoid the rake, but discovered some really bad players this week. I attribute it to a combination of first-of-the-month money and UB giving some players $10 to come back and "try us again."
