Please support HR 2366. It's a win/win. You will reduce the deficit incrementally while at the same time licensing and regulating a popular activity that millions of Americans enjoy playing from the privacy of their homes.

I have had issues with posting comments on pages and it's like I'm the only one who can see them. Some of us on skype asked each other about that kind of thing a while back. I could see my comment, but nobody else could. Somebody else could see their own comment, but I couldn't see it.

It seems to only happen when we're commenting on a post as opposed to when we can openly post on the page. And, it doesn't seem to happen a lot.

One thing I have done differently (and I don't really know if it helps) is after pasting the text into the comment box, I add "- " a the front and " -" at the end of my text to trick facebook into thinking I didn't just copy and paste. Seemed to make a difference for me, but again, not sure.

I wouldn't really worry about it unless it's happening every time. But, yeah, if you don't start getting lots of likes, people aren't seeing your post.

Carry on!

Recurring action:Tell the Debt Super Committee to Include Online Poker Legislation

U.S. House and Senate leaders have appointed twelve members of Congress to serve on the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction. This “super committee" is charged with developing policies to reduce the U.S. deficit and then make specific recommendations to Congress which will be voted on. This is a great opportunity for us to make our voices heard. Let's go to their Facebook pages and let them know that we want them to take action on the online poker issue!

The names with an “x” in front of them are those who do not allow direct posting on their Facebook wall. Simply post a comment in response to an appropriate post (i.e., one suitable for a pro-poker comment) already on the page. PLEASE remember to say please and thank you. Courtesy goes a long way.

Let's all also remember to revisit these walls to like the pro-poker posts and comments made since your last visit. Thanks!

IMO it's very important to keep up the momentum of triple-digit daily participation. In fact, as it looks like it will be close, I just spent an hour emailing and PMing poker players with requests that they visit this thread to take action. Seriously, this is important. Please take a moment and like the post. Thanks!

Will you take
just ten seconds to stand up for poker? Thank you for participating!
  1. Send a prewritten pro-poker letter to your elected officials HERE (it does not matter how long it's been since your last letter...it's time to send another one).
  2. Ask your friends, family, spouse, significant other, and everyone else you know to send their own letters too (you and your spouse/S.O. should send separate letters, not joint ones) HERE.

If you wish to do more today:

Today's Action: Call to your Members of Congress

Let's all call Congress and respectfully demand our rights. These should be short, friendly calls. These are not debates, so there is no need to worry about preparation. Rather, the goal of the call is simply to let these lawmakers know that their constituents support the right to play. PPA sent an email to its active members with a similar request, so we can expect Congress to get an earful from poker enthusiasts!

For the phone numbers of your elected representatives, either click here or visit the PPA Take Action page and scroll down to item #2.

Here are some tips on what to say to the staffer who answers the phone:
  • I am a constituent, voter and a poker enthusiast.
  • (For Representatives) Please support H.R. 2366, a bipartisan bill to license and regulate Internet poker.
  • (For Senators) H.R. 2366 has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives. I would like the Senator to support Senate legislation to license and regulate Internet poker.
  • Regulation means strong consumer protections as well as billions of dollars in federal and state revenue.
  • Please support my freedoms and support this bill.
  • Thank you.
  • I would like a response from the Representative/Senator.
Let's also continue to own a lot of Facebook pages (senators, congressmen, Congressional committees, etc.). We need lots of posts on the issue of poker and lots of "liking" of pro-poker comments:
  • The House Committee on Energy and Commerce Facebook page is here.
  • The House Financial Services Committee's Facebook page is here.
  • The Dept. of Justice's Facebook page is here.
Thanks!
