These items take just 30 seconds each to complete. Let's like all the pro-poker posts from yesterday while posting new pro-poker posts:
  1. If you did not do so yesterday (or if you've since unliked these pages), like the main FB pages HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE. [Speed tip: Click these links with either your middle mouse button or CTRL + your left mouse button to open these in separate tabs. Then, go tab-by-tab to knock them out.]
  2. Like these four pro-poker comments: HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE.
  3. If you did not do so yesterday, please like these four pro-poker comments: HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE. These were a little light yesterday...let's get them over 100 likes please!
  4. Like the pro-poker comments on the main pages (HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE). [Speed tip: Hit CTRL-F for search, then search for "poker" and "2366". Use "highlight all."]
  5. Send a NEW prefilled tweet promoting today's action plan HERE.
Please reply in this thread with "done", etc. to encourage others to participate. The past 33 actions have generated triple-digit participation, so let's keep it growing. Thanks!

If you wish to do more today, let's continue to reach out to the deficit super committee and others. I included prefilled tweets. They are fine as-is, but it's even better to edit them a bit before sending (so they're not all the same).

Thanks everyone!

We're getting great feedback from our lobbyists that we're being heard. Lawmakers are telling them how much they are hearing from us on Facebook, Twitter, and via email and phone calls. They are also observing how few posts are made in opposition.

Cliffs: 1.) Outreach to the House Energy and Commerce Committee: I'm leveraging our prior and current outreach to the House Energy and Commerce Committee with a PPA alert to the membership today. 2.) Ask Rachel Maddow to cover the online poker issue: Maddow discussed Prohibition on her show yesterday. I posted a link to an article I wrote comparing our issue to Prohibition to her FB wall, along with a request that she discuss our issue on her show.

Weekend of October 1st, 2011

Full Tilt Poker's sale is contingent on a settlement with DoJ. Let's take 30 seconds to ask the DoJ to first obtain iron-clad guarantees of player repayment and then to fast-track settlement of all outstanding issues with Full Tilt Poker to allow this sale to proceed, because I'd like my money back and I know you do too!
  1. Like the main FB page HERE, then like and post pro-poker posts there.
  2. Like these three pro-poker comments HERE, HERE, and HERE.
  3. Tweet the prefilled, editable messages HERE. It's best to edit a bit, but it's not necessary. The important thing is that it's sent.
  4. Send a prefilled tweet promoting today's action plan HERE.
Please reply in this thread with "posted", "tweeted", "done", etc. to encourage others to participate. The past 35 actions have generated triple-digit participation, so let's keep it growing. Thanks!

If you wish to do more today, let's follow up Friday's action a bit more. Participation was a bit light. If you did not have a chance to do this, please go ahead and do it now. If you have, please revisit these to post and like pro-poker posts and to send new tweets (editing the prefilled one). Thanks:
  1. Like the House Energy and Commerce Committee FB page HERE then like the Rachel Maddow show page HERE (you can unlike both after completing this if you wish). Maddow discussed Prohibition on her show on Thursday, so I posted a link to an article I wrote comparing our issue to Prohibition to her FB wall, along with a request that she discuss our issue on her show.
  2. Like the three pro-poker comments HERE, HERE, and HERE.

Will you take a few moments to stand up for poker? These items take just 30 seconds each to complete. Click your mouse and lose your House and Senate nannies! Let's focus on Senate Republicans John Cornyn (R-TX) and John Barrasso (R-WY) today:
  1. Like the Facebook posts HERE and HERE (with the new FB update, it appears we no longer have to like main pages first).
  2. Post and like pro-poker posts HERE and HERE.
  3. Send a NEW prefilled tweet promoting today's action plan HERE.
Please reply in this thread with "posted", "tweeted", "done", etc. to encourage others to participate. The past 36 actions have generated triple-digit participation, including over 400 participants this weekend, so let's keep it growing. Thanks!

Some contact info:
  • Department of Justice Main Switchboard: (202) 514-2000
  • Office of the Attorney General Public Comment Line: (202) 353-1555
  • Office of the Attorney General: (202) 514-2001
The DoJ testified to Congress their opinion that Americans are not breaking federal law in playing (they believe sites themselves are not lawful, though): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTvd8...outu.be&t=2m8s.

Some tips:
  • If you do not wish to identify yourself as a poker player, perhaps refer to yourself as a "poker enthusiast" or something like that.
  • If you wish to state that you have a balance locked up on a site but prefer not to mention that you have played the game online for money, simply do not volunteer the extra information. State that you have money locked up on a site and leave it at that.
  • I am not a lawyer, so please do not construe any of this as legal advice.
