Recent Bodog/Bovada update - please leave a comment

Hey guys,

As you probably know by now, Bodog has recently updated their software from version 4.25 to 4.27.1. Aside from making table mods and many other programs incompatible, the update has slowed down the software considerably, created unbearable lag and caused frequent disconnections for nearly every Bodog player.

A similar update is expected to roll out for Bovada (the skin for US players) very soon.

Please leave a comment describing your bad experiences with the new update if you can, or simply leave a +1 to let Bodog know that the new software is terrible and that they should 1) revert Bodog back to 4.25 and 2) not roll out the update for Bovada

I'm hoping this thread gets a considerable number of replies, after which we can all email them linking to this thread. If they see that indeed many players are experiencing problems with the new software/do not want Bovada to be updated, we'll have a much higher chance of them doing something about it.

Thanks.

Re: Recent Bodog/Bovada update - please leave a comment

I found the lag at Zone to be the worst, to the point that I consider 3/4 tables unplayable. The lag was so bad I timed out often just waiting for the client to respond, eg. click the betslider up and nothing happens for 5+ seconds.
Played some regular tables today, and lag isn't as bad but still very annoying. I'm scared to make fast clicks now, because I can't count on the software to respond adequately. Also, the betslider is a bit different now, making it hard to make fine bet adjustments as well as making it much easier to misclick all in when attempting to click your bet up 1. Again, I have no confidence in the responsiveness of the software now.
Things are just laggy in general. If you are clicking through tables in the lobby, it lags. If you're moving tables around, it lags. If you close the replayer window, it lags.
To be clear, NONE of these things were EVER an issue before the software update.
Also, you can no longer open a 5th cash table just to have a peek at it. Also, all the new fonts are harder to read.. decimals are about the size of an atom, and any notes you take are much harder to read.
I'm shocked at how bad this "update" is.. I could honestly write a paper on it.

The update is awful. I'm done playing on this site, and if nothing changes I'm withdrawing and never even playing in their casino and sportsbook again.

It's not good.

-I have no sound
-I always make the tables as small as possible and now it is much harder to read the text and the cards

Were they trying to improve the client? Seems more like they went out of their way to make it worse. Why they did this I have no idea but who knows what Bovada is up to.

Has Bovada mentioned anything about attempting to remove the use of HUDs? I'm worried about losing the ability to use Holdem Indicator.

The only thing I can compare this new update to, is that the website went mobile. It literally looks like a mobile poker app. But even those run smoother

This is literally the mobile client ported onto the PC. It's identical to the client I use when I play on my ipad.

why and how can something like this happen? I would think that a business that makes x amount of $$$$ would be able to avoid things like this....it has to change back right?!?!?!?!

Don't forget that they made their great website into a terrible mobile site and never reverted it. Don't expect this to go away.

I'm not sure if this is them porting the mobile client in order to eliminate HUD use or what. It makes no sense. They are literally running the mobile client which obviously can't handle multiple tables.

If it isn't reverted or fixed ASAP I suspect most U.S. players are going to play elsewhere. Unfortunately there's not many good options besides Bovada.

Re: Recent Bodog/Bovada update - please leave a comment

Thanks to everyone for commenting. At around 12 hours from now (1/7 2PM Pacific time), I'm going to be sending them this email.

Spoiler:

It would be great if everyone could send it to them as well. Doesn't have to be at that exact time, but as long they receive a bunch of emails pointing to this thread, then we'll have a much higher chance of being able to get a manager's attention.

Also, I'll be going to bed, so please quote this message here and there when you guys post in this thread, so people can see it. Thanks all, hope they will finally listen to us and clean up this mess.

Re: Recent Bodog/Bovada update - please leave a comment

The updated client is much worse than the previous version, both functionally and aesthetically.

I lag horribly on every table and what's worse the client has mishandled my commands consistently (e.g., folding when I'm attempting to call, calling when I haven't told it to).

The tables now look like they were made by a first year CS major who was taking his first shot at a GUI.

Honestly, unless the lag stops, I'll have no choice but to withdraw seeing as as it stands I literally can't even functionally play. Please revert the software.

@nahh12 you should wait longer than 12 hours. Give the US players some more time to experience the ****tiness and come to complain.
