No, you knew it was a short deck game. You apparently didn't realize (but should have) that removing some low cards from the deck changes the odds and probabilities, and changes the hand rankings. Depending on the variant, flush can beat full house, trips can beat a straight, and Ace can still be the low card in a straight even if the next lowest card is not a two. It's really a different game. You aren't playing with a standard deck.

This reminds me of a guy I knew, who was a regular on the Betfair Poker forum back in the day. He was already someone who tilted hard anyway, but the time he accidentally played SD without realising it, and got destroyed, he went absolutely mental! He told the story how he was getting so many monsters, yet always had the second best hand: He said he was ranting and raving in the table chat about how sick it was that the deck was so cold. His opponents realised his mistake and so just went along with how unlucky he was so as not to alert him that it was a different game. I don't recall him asking if he should sell his hand histories of the abnormality to PokerStars though.

I did not know how short deck game was. Never noticed there was no low cards. I thought the only diff was big antes.
