Pokerstars, USA, and VPN's:How Do They Catch You Pokerstars, USA, and VPN's:How Do They Catch You

Say somebody were to create an account on PokerStars that lived in the United States. Their address listed was a valid address residing in the USA. They load up a VPN that disguises their location in, say some random country. Let's say Germany. How does PokerStars know they are using a VPN or if the US citizen is just on vacation in Germany? Do they look at how often that same IP accessed their site and automatically blacklist it? I've seen many people live streaming on Twitch that are US citizens on vacation that are playing on PokerStars. I'm not really asking for advice on "how to break PokerStars TOS" but I'm genuinely curious as to how they catch people using VPN's and don't make any false account lockdowns. I'm writing a paper on the current state of online poker in the US and I feel like this should go into the essay. I suppose this goes for PartyPoker, 888 and other sites as well. Thanks I appreciate the feedback!

Maybe not, but I don't see where else this conversation would go.
