Re: **OFFICIAL Stars Software Improvement Thread***

Please fix FPP's on HU tables. It's ridiculous. You pay much more rake HU but you get 1/10th the FPPs for it compared to 6 max in the same amount of hands. I know its tough because hands that aren't raked are half the time, but you should just give 25% RB at least (FPP conversion) on pots raked.

Re: **OFFICIAL Stars Software Improvement Thread***

dave - I think it's partly curiousity about whether you're ahead or not and getting excited when you hit your 2-outer or whatever...and partly just to speed things along so that you know if you're about to win or not and whether you need to try to sneak in a re-buy before you get sat-out.

I agree that it COULD make a difference on the fishies having less courage to make some ridiculous all-in's though so I'm not 100% in the camp of "OMG...show the cards already."

To that end, I think my idea of having a button to immediately flip over the cards when you're all-in...IF you want to...is the best of both worlds. And makes it even MORE like a cash-game at a real-casino where MOST players actually do flip over their cards because they want to pretend like they're in a tournament or something...but you are not FORCED to flip them like on FT or if you were in a tournamkent.

Checking the tab on the drop-down menu to auto-muck or not auto-muck is kind of silly too.
Just make it a check-box next to the other check-boxes on the table.
Most people have it checked to auto-muck by default because it's too annoying to get asked if you want to show or muck on EVERY single hand.

But there are SOME times when I would choose to show my cards at showdown IF it was a readily available option. And calling up the lobby and trying to quickly uncheck the 'auto-muck' option is way too time-consuming when you're multi-tabling.

As I recall, Party had the 'auto-muck' option as a check-box in the lower-left along with the 'auto-post blinds' and stuff like that. That's the best way to do it. Allows me and others to show quickly uncheck it and show their cards if they want to.

Even better would be a fun option to show one card or another card when mucking or even when folding pre-showdown if it's heads-up or something....as well as after you won the hand due to everyone else folding.
This is a big part of live-poker and a lot of players find this to be kind of fun.
Everyone folds, you get the pot, and show the table a 5c that has nothing to do with the board just to torment your opponents.
Isn't this something that Negreneau does sometimes? If so then just call it the 'Negreneau Option' or something fun.

UB has the 'show cards' option I believe.
And some other site out there might have the 'show one card' or something option but I'm not sure.

If PokerStars TRULY wants to be as close to a live-game as they can then considering some of these options...that a lot of fish I think would have a ton of fun with...should be a good idea.

Re: **OFFICIAL Stars Software Improvement Thread***

My list of things and all have probably already been mentioned so just take it as me "seconding" the requests;

1. Waiting list. If I am already on the waiting list don't make the button say "Waiting List"
2. Sit out next orbit on all tables option (not next blind)
3. I'm back on all tables option
4. Option to default to "wait for BB" when joining/rejoining table

That's all I can think of for now...

I'm not the guy that roots out loud for cards after seeing both hands face up, but it does allow for some on-the-fly analysis of your opponents play. To get the same info is several clicks/scrolls to go back through the HH, and it leads to some misclicks when multi-tabling.

Yeah, maybe...but from my personal experiences playing on FTP, the games are very, very fish filled...and no one seems to mind having their hand flipped up. The astute players that know that showing certain hands might lead to having people play differently against them, know that the good players are going to go check the HH anyway. Also...when a fish has a ridiculous hand flipped up, he usually goes bust in that hand and leaves the table anyway. The whales that have add'l buyins could care less. They're there to gamble.

Many casinos have the policy to turn all cards up in both tourneys and cash games. For them, it is to speed things up at the end of the hand when the time comes to decide who shows first. A button to allow players to show or muck right after the all in is un-realistic. The option is already given at the end of the hand. The other reason people show their hand in the casino is that they hope the other guy will do the same. They want the sweat.

Yes. Yes. Yes. This is a no-brainer. A checkbox next to the other boxes, that can easily allow me to show a hand in an appropriate spot would be amazing. It is impossible to go to the options and uncheck the automuck box in time to show in most situations.

No. I don't like this one bit...and many cardrooms across the country are no longer allowing this. This is taunting at its worst, and the only reason people do this is to try and tilt their opponent. This is grouped in with the show 1 person, show everyone rule. They now have the show 1 card, show the whole hand rule as well.

Definately a must do. Its doesnt make sense to have to join each table 1 by 1 if youre going to be doing 10+ tables.

sfcell - I don't think there are many casinos that require you to turn up your hands when all-in in a cash-game.

[quote=KLJ;2525700]if i could only have one thing, it would most definitely be:
higher minimum buyin (at least 40BB, 50 would be practical and kind of nice)

If I could have 1 thing it would be lower maximum buyins, say 40 or 50 BB's just like the largest brick and mortar poker room in the world, commerce casino. Games were much better with the 50BB max buyins at Party Poker in 2004.

Lets not make this a discussion on whether shortstacking is bad or good

Re: **OFFICIAL Stars Software Improvement Thread***

I'm almost exclusvely a cash game player and have been for most of my poker career, but the most obvious needed improvement to me is synchronized tournament breaks. If stars does it, other major sites will be pressured to follow eventually.

For cash games, though:
1) The shortstackers are a problem. Seriously. Give us options to play what we want to play: poker where the vast majority of players at the table have more than 20 BB stacks. If I want to play short stack, allin preflop poker, I'll sign up for a sitngo. 40BB (or 50, even better) minimum buy tables, plz.
2) what's more frustrating than taking a bad beat in a big pot? Getting 'auto-rebought' back in for a mere 20BB and getting dealt AA. wtf. If you're willing to auto-rebuy us into NL games, let us buy in for a stack size we specify.
3) 'fast' limit tables may have the 'sit out next BB' button, but NL games don't. would love a 'take a break' button that does this at all tables.

This is the salient issue. +1.

We know many people dishonestly datamine Stars, I am gled they do not have access to my mucked cards. Show them on screen, it will be hours before one of the mining apps is able to incorperate the information into the HH files.

dave and ack bring up reasonable points.

So instead of making it automatic just give people the OPTION to turn it over if they want...just like most live cash-games!!

I'm sure they already can -- if we go allin preflop and the person in later position has the best hand, both hands are already shown, and this is kinda unavoidable. But at least if you're in earlier position and have a better hand, mine gets mucked. A far better software upgrade (but an unlikely one) would be for only hands that get a part of the pot to be displayed. The losing hand(s) are available to players via instant hand history anyways, and this protects the most information from observers.

Given that some people (note how I politely refrain from insulting them, it wasn't easy) are clamoring for full hand exposure upon alllin, I doubt they'll be improving the privacy situation anytime soon, but I'm pretty sure stars understands the need to at least keep the privacy we have.

bad_egg - that's a good one.
If I'm playing SNG's at different stakes....say a bunch of 16s and 27s mixed together. I kind of like to be able to know at a glance which ones are the 'more important' ones. But instead I have to click on the lobby for each of them and/or try to position them so that all the 16's are on one side of the screen and all the 27's are on the other side or something silly like that.

While I am for this...it's not the best feature of FTP vs PS.

The absolute best feature, and the #1 thing I'd like to have PS do is adopt FTP's variable auto-rebuy function, where you can choose exactly what your default buy-in/rebuy amounts are for both NL and Limit games. In fact, I'd like to see them go 1 step further and get an option that always brings you up to the table max. FT only reloads you if you lose an all-in.
