Starcoins fall into that category for me as, they can be used for buyins to certain things and also traded for cash in the store so, I thought it would be handy to be able to see the total constantly alongside my bankroll, without having to do anything or having more pop-ups to close whilst trying to play.

just downgrade, it solves the problem at least for the time being.

they will eventually fix it. if you don't downgrade then send ur log files. There's a link posted a bunch of times in this thread for older versions

Thanks.
I think that displaying SC balance in the lobby would also encourage them being spent more frequently in the store.

PokerStars do not do server updates on a Saturday. You are on .EU & you wrote here on 7th July that your build was 13724. Is it still build 13724?

Regarding this "server update":
You launched PokerStars today & something happened?
You didn't connect? Explain what you saw that looked like a server update.
Or perhaps you mean your PokerStars client updated?

Please update your PokerStars software, either by clicking on the desktop icon (which should run PokerStarsUpdate.exe and will automatically update your client to the latest build), or go to the PokerStars folder on your computer and run PokerStarsUpdate.exe from there.
worked! hope it stays this way now. Thank you

another issue emerged...

reinstalled PokerStars and wanted it to appear in Taskbar. (windows 10)

Start Menu Pokerstars does NOT open without always opening as administrator, so pinning this wouldnt work (discovered its update shortcut, which cannot be set to automatically open as admin)

Pinnint Pokerstars.exe from stars folder works, but whenever I open client, it duplicates logos in my Taskbar.

Pinnint Pokerstars.exe from stars folder works, but whenever I open client, it duplicates logos in my Taskbar.

The improved taskbar that Microsoft introduced in Windows 7 was a welcome change to many users. It supported the pinning of programs to the taskbar so that they could be opened from it with just a click.

This was more comfortable than using desktop shortcuts or the start menu for the operation.

The same taskbar is also part of windows 8 and Windows 10.

One issue that you may experience from time to time is that of duplicate icons on the taskbar. When you open a program pinned to the taskbar it should highlight that by modifying the icon, not spawning another icon on the same taskbar.

The issue causes another icon of the program to be opened on the far right of the taskbar. It vanishes again when you close the program.

So why is this happening to some programs but not all?

There are two reasons for why this is happening.

Reason 1: Shortcuts

If you pin a program shortcut to the taskbar instead of the program directly, you may end up with the issue.

One of the easier fixes for the issue is the following one:

Unpin the program icon from the taskbar. Locate the program in the start menu, right-click on it and select pin to taskbar from the options.
This works in most cases, but may not work for all programs because of the next reason.

Reason 2: Incompatibility

Some programs are not compatible with the taskbar functionality. While you may pin any executable to the taskbar, some may be incompatible with the feature so that a new program icon is spawned whenever the program is executed.

There is no fix for this issue. If a program gets updates regularly, it may get fixed in a future update.

* I recently brought a new computer with Windows 10 and had the same issues you are. The 2 main pokersites I currently play at are Pokerstars and 888Poker.

I was able to fix the Pokerstars duplicate by unpinning it from the taskbar, going into my 'all apps' in the start menu, finding Pokerstars and then pinning the main program to the taskbar from there. It then works without a duplicate when opening it.

However, I wasn't able to do this using the same process with 888Poker. It simply isn't compatible with pinning and continues to duplicate.

Because of this and wanting to run all my pokersites from the same place, I have simply unpinned them all and instead gone old school, creating shortcuts for each to my desktop and running the clients from there.

The image you posted shows an issue with Pokerstars. If you follow the steps i've mentioned above you should be able to have Pokerstars pinned to your task bar at least, without duplicating, if you so wish.

Thanks, Loki!

Marcis8 - just for reference, we have not updated the .eu client since June 30th, when we deployed build 13724.

If you were already on build 13724 on Thursday (July 7th) and then on Saturday you suddenly started experiencing more frequent crashes, it must have been due to something other than a client update. Can you think of anything else that might have changed in your system, setup or other software, or your use of PokerStars (playing more games, different types of games, using certain features more heavily)?

As far as I know, this has always been the case going back at least a couple of years (and with Win 7), but I don't think this is PokerStars' fault. There are other programs that do this too sometimes (I find trying to pin Firefox always a bit finicky for me).

Yes i was allready on build 13724 July 7th. I cannot think anything that might change in my system, i think everything is the same, it doesnt matter when i play 1, 2 or more tables, sng, tournaments or cash games, it crashes eather the same way, about 4 months that i cannot play regularly because of this crash bug, right now i have to play with play money and hope that crash bug is gone, but its not gone, some day less, some more, how can i play with real money when i now that any moment it can crash and i lost some pots cuz of crash bug, you never now when your tables freezes

Have you considered the possibility that it is your system? I am not saying IT IS your system, but have you checked to see if it is a system problem?

For example if you haven't set up exclusions in you anti-virus for some of the PokerStars .exe files you can get problems
If your firewall isn't set up properly the same result

I still don't understand what happened when you thought there was a "server update". I asked you what you saw, but you still haven't said what it was you saw.

Difficult to help unless you are clear!

QUESTIONS
Please be precise in language - when you have a "crash" is it a crash? Do you get a blue screen? When PokerStars freezes what is freezing? Do you have Taskmanager open to see CPU, memory at that moment?
When PokerStars freezes what are you doing in PokerStars? Clicking a button or what?

Are you playing videos & doing many other things when running PokerStars? Using HM2 or something too?

Have you tried reinstalling PokerStars to see if that solves the problem? It is easy to do this.
Have you checked you system is up-to-date for Windows patches & driver updates?
What AV are you using? Some AVs are very aggressive & will stall your system - AVs need to be set up correctly or they ruin your computing experience. Some AVs are more trouble than they are worth!

@Marcis8 Just a note of explanation
A friend of mine was finding his PokerStars was running very badly - lagging tables, timing out
Also it was crashing when he launched it [not during play]
We solved the crashing at launch by turning off the "heuristic analysis " in his AV which wouldn't listen to us when we told it PokerStars was trusted - my friend spent a lot of money on the program subscription so I can't persuade him to dump it! But he did turn off heuristics & things improved
I then watched him for an hour 'teaching' his AV which bits of his programs it didn't have to scan every few seconds [by putting 'exclusions' in his AV]

I asked me later if he understood his AV program & it turned out he'd never bothered to read the instructions
He'd also not updated his drivers & windows updates were turned off & he hadn't booted his PC in months...

It was no surprise to me he was having problems, but he insisted the problem wasn't his

Hey Loki, thanks for your help i think youre right about my system problems, because i try to play on my old PC, which is very old and slow and all works fine, in about 30 minutes of play there wasnt any crash or table freeze, i mean crash is when my PS client suddenly disappears, table freeze - cards stop in the air when dealing and all stops, when i click on table, then table gets white color, and about 15 seconds it says your PS client software doesnt work, and i have to click close programm. About Anti virus program and all PC settings overrall and things like that - Im not smart enough about theese things at all, dont understand much. My firewall is always on, i try to disable my Panda AV programm, and play poker, but all the same i opened task manager and CPU usage is 100 % and memory about 1,45 GB at that moment. I dont do anything else when playng and dont use HM or PT4 now. I reinstalled PS but its not helping. where can i se is system up to date for windows patches and driver updates? I have Panda AV programm

[1] PANDA: You don't say which Panda. I use Panda Free because it is very light on resources. This is my exclusions on there:

And the rest of the exclusion I use:

[2] UPDATE WINDOWS OS & DRIVERS

It would help if you told me which Windows you use
I'll wait until you tell me to save confusion although it is the same more-or-less for all recent Windows versions
Updates can be a nightmare especially with Microsoft pushing Windows 10 'upgrades'
That white screen you mentioned is OFTEN a sign of a Graphics Card/Video Card problem - usually to do with the Graphics Drivers being out-of-date or damaged or the card itself is damaged

Download & install this & post the summary text file [File menu > Save as Text File] so I can see what you have: Speccy

[3] HIGH CPU
This could be the Graphics / Video card thing - I'll wait until you've sent in info re [1] & [2]

Server Restart on Thursday, 14-July at 7am ET

FYI - We have just been informed that we should expect a server restart this Thursday at 7am ET. It is planned to take under an hour, but circumstances can sometimes extend or delay it.

Thanks for posting your recent experience.

Do you remember approximately when you updated your .bg client to Build 13531? The build was deployed to production on 22-June (about 3 weeks ago).

I'm trying to understand whether you recently updated from an older version (like 13101 or 12533) to the latest version (13531) 3 or 4 days ago - in other words, just before you started your run of no crashes - or whether you updated a few weeks ago, have been running on 13531 since then with numerous crashes and it suddenly started working fine this weekend.

Please let me know if you remember. Thanks!
