QFT

I didn't reinstall the system though, but solved the problem with windows 7 updates clogging and installed the latest graphics drivers. Since then, I only had one crash in last 15 sessions or so, while before I was experiencing crash in almost every single one.

Moral of the story - make sure your system runs smoothly.

I play on my Android phone and I was just prompted to get an update. It installed and now I cannot have it open for more than a minute before it freezes and becomes unresponsive.

It was working fine a few weeks ago when I last played before the update.

The last two days I have asked stars for my hand count and it is about 30-50 hands more than HM has (only 1000 hands or so, so could be worse on a bigger volume day) weirdly the winnings tallies up to near enough exactly what it should be (starting balance + what HM says).

I am just going to keep testing for a few days to see what happens as I only noticed a week ago when I was testing HM because of an error and I am not exactly sure if it has always happened or if it is even a fault or not?

For example I play 4 hands of 10NL zoom and I pressed sit out and close table on next big blind. Only 2 hands were imported.

Next I played 10 hands and sat out, but didnt close the table. It took a couple of minutes but eventually all hands were imported.

I think hands dont import if the tableis closed before the hands have finished.

thanks
The behaviour has always been like this. Yes, the hand histories get written when the hand has been completed. This includes being written to their own servers (at least that's what they've stated in the past). If you close the table before a hand fully completes then it will not be available for your HM or PT. If you request your recent hand history through the client you can recover any hands that were missed. For ZOOM, it is best to wait a couple of minutes after sitting out before closing your tables.

This is the intended behaviour and PS does not consider it a bug. The only change they could make is to write the hand history as the hand progresses, but that is not necessarily a good solution. For one, it would cause partial histories to be written. Second, if they write the hands to their servers before they are complete it opens them up to issues similar to what happened at Absolute Poker (auditing tools were able to read the hands in progress, and were used to cheat).

Thanks that explains a lot. Am I wrong in thinking that it is more efficient to just carry on leaving the table straight away saving time as long as I don't enter the pot? I know i lose a hand for the graph but it doesn't effect the winnings line as I had nothing invested in the missing HH?

It could happen that a hand still in progress is one in which you were the small blind, or maybe you called a bet at one point but later folded to a raise. In the end, it's up to you, and it depends how exact you want your database to be.

From what I have observed the problem goes beyond what you have explained here. Hands can and do get lost randomly during a session not just at the end. Sitting out for a period of time before closing the table does not seem to help much. Your solution of requesting HH's would probably recapture the lost hands but just is not worth the effort, for me at least. The few hands per thousand that get dropped are a small drop of water in an ocean unless you have extreme OCD with regard to your DB.

Is there any chance this "hundredsofgigabyteslogfile-issue" will be adressed in the near future? I had to delete them now several times and I have to say it gets annoying. You know... I'd tend to say ANNOYING actually!

I did think the same as I have tested a zoom orbit and left the table for a considerable amount of time and the hands has stayed at 5 hands rather than the 6 hands played. I will just keep checking the winnings losses tally up at the end of the day for week and if so just be satisfied with that.

I would still like to know if my fold hot key isn't working as it should though please.

When you find hands being lost, were you experiencing connection issues? If you disconnect from the server when a hand ends I think that can result in hands not being written as well.

FWIW, while I've never payed attention to the exact hand number counts, I am OCD about the actual dollar (or cents, in my case) amount, and make sure every session matches up exactly to a personal spreadsheet. The only time I ever see any discrepancy is when I close a table too soon or get disconnected during a session.

I suspect you are correct about minor disconnections being responsible for lost hands. Like you, I have spreadsheets for tracking where my money is being won/lost by game session and number of hands played to calculate basic things like bb/100. I had set them up long before I started using PT4 and still keep them up just because its quicker/easier to see overall results plus I have more history there. I use the PT4 database to analyze my play and identify leaks, where a few lost hands here and there are not statistically significant.

Server Restart on Thursday this week

We are planning a full system restart on Thursday, 12-January, beginning at 7:00am ET. We expect the servers to be offline for under an hour, but circumstances can sometimes extend or delay it.

We appreciate your patience during the restart and apologize for the inconvenience.

Is this correct or should my hands be open folding if I am using the Fold hot key (the first hot key in the list of options)

Cheers.
Bump since you skipped/missed it.

Thanks

I am using a VPN and it always takes stars ages to load, it often hangs on the "PokerStars Update" window. Any thoughts on how to resolve this?

Even I faced the same issue today. My disk got full and I found the pokerstars log file was 112gb. Since the disk was full, stars couldn't save my settings when I closed the software and so now all my configurations and settings have been reset to default. Please fix this issue on priority, it is very annoying!

WHY HAS POKERSTARS NOT ADDRESSED THE LOG FILE ISSUE!!!

i replied on this thread, and have now sent 2 emails to PS support with no response back.

hundreds of gigs of log files are being written my SSD every day or two, and all of my user settings are getting deleted at the same time.

it's beyond infuriating that when im watching a movie at 2am i have to get up and clear my hard drive because of this massive software flaw.

please advise.

My daily routine: Work all day, come home start playing around 7pm, 8pm i get a message , your C drive is full, please delete files. Skype wont open, videos can not be watched, npthing else can be done until i close PS client. So when i am done losing a couple k , i close PS , delete log files and only then can start skype and other programs. ARE YOU PEOPLE FOR REAL LOL? SORT IT OUT, I AM NOT PLANNING ON DOING THIS EVERY FREAKING DAY YOU KNOW!!!

Oh yeah, and new settings every day, i forgot about that treat..

The log file issue will be fixed with this month's client release which will be pushed out to individual clients in the 2nd half of the month with the exact date depending on which license you're on. Fixes should be in for all licenses by the end of the month.

Apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Dylan
