I may be visiting NJ for a day or 2. Researching deposit methods, will paypap deposit onto the site be available immediately?

Hey All

I am sure this has been asked just can not seem to find it. Does Poker Star allow players in NJ to cross over and play people in Delaware and Nevada? And soon to be PA? I ask cause the numbers of players online seem low.

No, just NJ for right now.

I'm going overseas for awhile. Can I open an account and play on PokerStars for real money even though I have an account on PSNJ?

That is far too vague a question for anyone to give a possible answer apart from "It depends", but, as it's a very important one for you, you should contact Support with full details and receive the relevant information as determined by them.

Apologies if this has been posted already--maybe someone will find this interesting or useful.

I receive black chests, and was curious as to the effective rakeback % I'm receiving. This would of course be calculated using a weighted average (just like EV itself is calculated [for discrete random variables, not for continuous ones ]). I ignored boosts, since to be honest I just ignore them when I actually play. Boosts will obviously slightly improve the %.

Black chests provide 12.6% rakeback--for comparison sake, I receive 33% on WSOP, and don't need to open chests to do so.

Do you also have a calculation for PP/Borgata? Also, are you exchanging points for cash, or is it the highest value item, such as comp dollars at casino or tournament dollars.

I don't, sorry--I don't play there because the disconnect problem.

On Stars, I only receive cash and tournament dollars--I treat T$ as cash in my calculations.

I also wish to add something--one will often receive "green points" toward their next chest in the current chest. This of course increases the effective RB % versus my calculation, but to what extent I cannot say.

when you say "i only receive" do you mean thats the only rakeback you count your earnings towards? I opened a black chest today and for the first time instead of cash/mtt$ I got a $35 casino bonus and nothing else. is there a way I can opt out of receiving casino bonuses for RB in chests?

I just meant that that's the only RB I receive--I've never gotten anything besides $ and T$. Getting casino bonuses sucks--I think since I only play MTTs and a little HUSNG here and there, they make it so my rewards are reflective of those gaming preferences.

Edit: And on that point, I should point out that different game formats award accumulation points differently--my 12.6% figure is strictly for people that only play MTTs. The MTT point rate was recently cut by a startling 55% (in Feb. 2019), so it's pretty piss poor at the moment.

I see. I mostly play cash and was thinking that 12% seemed odd because I get about half that. never played a casino game so I guess they just hate me.

Wait...you guys don't get "stars coins"??? What am I doing wrong

For PP/Borgata, if you hit Palladium (which isn't that tough, only takes $1K in MGR in a month): You generate 2 points per $1 of MGR, and 71 points at Palladium are worth $10 cash. So $10/35.5 ~= 28%.

Wow. That's not bad at all. I'd also like to clarify that the WSOP max rakeback is 32%, not 33% as I mentioned above.

So, we have 32% from WSOP (granted, hard to reach), and 28% for PP/Borgata (less hard to reach as per the above post).

There's very little to get excited about with Stars. *Far* lower RB, and (at least for MTTs), slightly tougher games with lower fields/prize pools.

Has anyone had issues with the wait list recently regarding cash games?

I'm not notified when it's my turn and I keep missing seats and having to rejoin the list

Did you ever resolve this issue? I've basically given up playing PSNJ on my laptop due to the CPU usage issue. (I play on a tablet occasionally). Other NJ Poker clients have no CPU issues.

The other interesting thing is that it only happens when you are logged in. If you open the client, but dont log in, the CPU usage stays low. You can open tourneys, watch tables, etc, with no CPU problems.

nope nothing has changed. stars still uses significantly more CPU just by logging on than all the other sites combined. unsurprisingly stars doesn't give a ****.

Can you use pokertracker or hold em manager?

Also, if you had an old account but don’t want to use the same username, can you change it?

Yes. Either one, or any that makes use of hand histories.

Years ago, I believe they allowed one username change, but not anymore. Here is their reasoning:

This policy protects everyone, including you. It would not be fair if one of your opponents, who knows your play very well, changed their Stars ID, and hid behind a new identity, using their experience of your play to beat you.

Thanks for getting back to me.

In regards to the username change, i found information that said that if you were a pokerstars.com player and you want to change your username in the NJ site, you could. But maybe they did do away with that.
