I like the changes, they only rly suck for Full ring nits if i got that right.
But for fish enjoying earning VPP's and for lags its very rewarding
I have not found a downside on this yet. I also dont understand why stars is "moneygrabbing" - now imagine every nit starting to loosen up
it would be 2003 again

Btw this is why Stars thinks they can get away with this. Stupid regulars who can't learn from history and somehow think this is a good thing in any way.

I love that they snuck a rake increase at 6max too with the increase in 5 handed rake yet didn't even mention that in the OP. That used to be a really good reason to play at Stars. Whoops.

It's not. You'd think it would be, but it's not. The laggiest of LAGs will still see a 10% drop in rakeback.

no, lags lose money, fish get a few more vpps, but they are the lowest volume players, they will not gain much because they aren't playing for long enough to reap the rewards.
and lol at 2003 again.

worst post ever

But stil they get what they contribute to the pot, not having 90% of its rake given to all the russian nits on the table,

To tired to do the calculations right now

Also not sure Stars is actually making any more money as a direct result of this but it might make the games healthier and the reward programme fairer
You should read it more carefully.

Mhh. I don't fully understand this yet. I know less VPP but will there be less rake? I play 50nl-100nl FR.

I can't say yet whether or not I will throw a fit etc like the rest of the people here.

Might have to play and see what I get.

Well this is ****. I'm not even a nit and I stand to lose out. Chance of me going for SN next year just fell to 0%

Also, lol at all the micro ******s celebrating. I play goddamn PLO50 and I'm still gonna lose out, the changes are beneficial to such a small % of players, and an even smaller % of rake paid.

monopolies gonna monopoly? A minimal amount of people will transfer. Stars does a lot of things right ie. customer service, traffic, tons of micro gtds. Depends to the players what's most important.

Steve,
since the current changes screw the SNEs big time, can't you at least make SNE for a full year instead of 1st of October?
Isn't it common sense to be able to keep it for a full year since you work to get it for a full year in the first place?

what statistics are u basing ur facts on... and "lol at" lags lose money.
fish is gonna get a heck lot more VPP and hopefully safe it up for cash rewards.
i bet so hard that the games will be better.

Given ur emotional state ur playing full ring right? 10/9?

Oh and 5 handed games now $3 cap instead of $2.

SWEET DEAL YO!
The loss in incremental is not significant for medium size pots. Look at the worked examples on the first page. So I would say the rake reduction at NL200 (that I play) is quite close to 10% which is quite significant. I quantify the change in cap for 5 handed for 6max as I don't play it but for FR it should be negligible

looks like stars management is showing their true colors now that they think they have sufficiently monopolized online poker.

I sent the following email to Poker Stars before switching to this site in September:

Quote:
Hi,

I consider moving most of my play to Stars. I would like to ask some
questions about reward system in 2012:
1)is rake calculation going to change (dealt vs contributed)
2)are vpp's required for supernova/supernova elite going to change ?
3)any other significant changes planned ?

I am not sure if Stars already made those decisions. I would
appreciate as accurate info as possible.

take care
This the answer I received:

Thank you for contacting PokerStars.

At this time we still have no information on what changes if any may be implemented next year. Please check back later on and hopefully in a few months we can address this query in more detail.

You may already be aware of this, but if not feel free to read on about the changes which we introduced at the beginning of 2011.

There were only a few minor changes to the VIP Program for 2011. PokerStars will continue to offer benefits to ALL players, will continue to reward VPPs equally to all players dealt into a hand, and will continue to offer the best advertised rewards for high volume players.

These changes for 2011 are focused on simplifying the VIP Program, making benefits easier to communicate, claim, and enjoy. The following changes to the PokerStars VIP Program were effective January 1st, 2011:
I invested significant amount of time and money (by not bumhunting other sites but learning a game to get SNE) raking in 300k VPIP in the process.
Now they say: "Hahahaha, we deceived you to play long hours in our games and now your money belong to us so you can go **** yourself".
Message taken, lesson learnt. I am still sad though because playing high volume is fun for me and bumhunting is boring. Stars will lose 150k$ rake from me. I hope more people join. Even if not sitout which is drastic action we can organize to play no more than say 6 tables with super strict, obnoxious table selection which will hurt them more than temporary sitout.
