PokerStars Account Restrictions PokerStars Account Restrictions

Hello,

After having spent a few hours of doing research on my own time, I have reviewed several situations and threads on this topic. I have decided to leave a current post, and hopefully get some up-to-date feedback from the community.

For the second time, my PokerStars account has been restricted in the last year or so. They are not allowing me to withdraw until I can "explain my association" to some random player who I obviously don't know. You'll have to trust that I'm an honest person, because If you don't, there is no point in reading further. Anyway the situation is that I can't withdraw until they review my explanation of my association to this person.

Now I know already everyone is saying - here we go....I am fully prepared to answer all questions that everyone may have including the following, which I will answer proactively.

1. Did you make or receive and transfers from any players, or make and deposits of any kind? No.
2. Have you shared your computer or account in any capacity? No.
3. Do these names of players have any meaning to you? No
4. Are you somehow breaking the ToS and choosing to omit it from your explanations or inquiries? No.
5. Are you playing anywhere close to the US border? No.

Now I'm about 99% sure that this issue will be resolved in a day or so, as it has been a about 36 hours. I am 100% that I will not rest until it has been totally resolved. My main issues with this second "security check" are as follows

1) This is the second time the onus is being put on me to explain something that I have absolutely no clue about. There is literally no connection between me an these players.
2) Pretty much anyone with any sort of ability to review an account, can see that I am not in anyway a fraudulent player.
3) Stars makes no attempt to communicate this security check until I attempt to withdraw. They do, however, allow me to continue playing while this security check is quietly lurking in the background, just waiting for me to withdraw.

So for the second time I am undergoing this process with PokerStars, I assume that within 3 days to a week they will send me an email that looks like this "Thank you for your patience in the matter, we need another picture of your driver's license, your log files..." etc. And I will send them all this, again. And I will wait for them to allow me to withdraw my money, again. Alternatively, there is some new person working on my "security check", who clearly is has not been prepared adequately for this role.

So let's here any and all questions that any of you may have. I will refrain from answering questions not relevant to the topic. Let's be honest though, my review of similar cases has revealed many situations where the OP just straight up did not reveal all the information that was relevant, or at least manipulated its presentation in one way or another.

I want to hear your thoughts on this issue, I'm intending to withdraw about 90% of my roll when this issue is resolved. The only reason that I'm doing this is because I never really will know when they will decide its a new time to lock my account. Yes there is a pessimistic undertone to that comment, but I feel its warranted. I have sent a long and detailed message to Stars, and I have serious reservations about a security system that is clearly not performing optimally (and probably not even close).

I love the Stars software (Poker-playing, obviously), I love the site...I really do. I realize rake is controversial right now and the "chest" system is controversial, and whatever else people want to complain about. It is, however, my choice to play on the site, and I don't have any reservations about what they charge players to play. And I fully intend to keep playing on the site when this issue is resolved. I will remove the majority of my roll however, and put a portion of it elsewhere, simply because I am not a victim of circumstance. I allow for mistakes, and I am a patient person, but I also know when I am being treated unfairly.

I am fairly new to the forum, I hope that nothing I have posted here is constituted as poor etiquette, or breaching the terms. If so, I apologize. I really could not think of a better venue to post my experience and get some feedback.

I would really appreciate any feedback from the community on this matter.

There isn't anything that DC can do regarding the matter. To answer your question directly though - No - I have received no feedback from DC as of yet. Moreover, as mentioned in the original post I'm fairly certain that this issue will be resolved shortly.

My expectations from the post is not that anyone will "do" anything for me I'm hoping that I will get more feedback from 2+2 due the population size. If I had to say what my expectations are from this post I would say im looking for information on the following:

1) Has anyone experienced a similar problem in 2017?
2) What measure did you take, if any, or did you just wait it out as something that is just part of the service provision.
3) Am I overlooking something as being integral to understanding this security process.
4) Should I be concerned about the security of my account?

Your account presumably got flagged automatically by one of the many anti-fraud algorithms that Stars uses. They sometimes throw up false positives, so you've probably just been very unlucky to have it happen twice.

I presume you've looked in your tracker database to confirm you've never played any hands against the player that Stars Support mentioned in the email.
If he happens to be some sort of fraudster, then if you randomly won a few pots against him, your account might have been automatically flagged up as the beneficiary of a potential chipdump.

How was your previous case resolved, btw? Did someone from Stars eventually say something like "A human has finally done a thorough investigation and you're in the clear. You're free to start playing again", or did you have to jump through various hoops?

Being patient and honest generally seems to be the best strategy in cases like this, but it must be very frustrating for you. Good luck!
