Then why not reply to them stating that you never sent funds to that person, you do not know who he is as a human (I assume this is true), and then ask that the 5 bucks be removed/sent back. Then ask that your account be re-activated and that if they can block that account from ever sending you pocket change in the future that would be appreciated. Then you can ask them what other steps can be taken to prevent an account being closed if it gets sent a couple bucks from a rogue account - since that can be done out of spite.

I assume that account that sent you money did some type of fraud, so perhaps it is automatic to do these follow ups, but iof that is all that it was then I will be pretty surprised if they close your account and take all your money. That just makes no sense, because if that happened with the narrow situation you describe then we would have seen it happen a ton of times over the years, so either some information is missing (usually the case), or this was a case of automated routines gone bad (which in theory is possible).

So i don't understand this ^ why cant you sell crypto to someone who pays you by sending the payment to your pokerstars account which you use to play with which is the same as you depositing your self or player transfers etc?

So how would they know you done either? I mean how do they know your friend didn't just send you them money for whatever reason, like owed you or whatever?

Because PokerStars doesn't want us using them as a bank. They want people who transfer money to do it to play poker only, not to pay for crypto.

I'm guessing that the red flag was not the transfer; the red flag was probably that the guy who sent it to me had a fraudulent transaction before he made the transfer to me.

but you are playing poker with the money he sent to your account , aren't you? or did you withdrawal it?

I mean what's the difference how the money gets into your pokerstars account as long as once its in your account you play with it.

If you don't see the problem with this then I really don't know what world you live in.

Use your imagination and try to think of situations where PS is absolutely screwed if they allow transfers for unknown payments.

Said he received a transfer from another pokerstars account? which is done often between players.

Yup, I understand your point. So why did they freeze my account in the first place if they didn't even know why I received the transfer? It had to be because of who it was from.

If the one who transferred the money has a history of abusing the transfer system they will indeed probably freeze both his and your accounts.

I am not surprised it was restored. Part of me is curious why you got the initial account is closed permanently email, as that is pretty out of place for the situation, but to some extent I guess shrug it off and do not do these transfers with randoms in future.

Yes, it is. And it's often used for people to settle debts, which isn't what Stars wants. And it's also used for more nefarious reasons. That's why Stars investigates when they have concerns. Really nothing too surprising about this.

This is what happened. A little overboard by Stars initially but all is well that ends well.

Why don't you write Coin Poker and ask them to shut down the player that you did business with. He's an obvious scammer on Stars so I'm sure CoinPoker doesn't want his business either.

They did know why you received it. They were probably asking you to see what your response was. You were advertising a service here, which involved your Stars account, which breaks their TOS

Why is he an obvious scammer on Stars? His account is not locked/banned/closed on Stars

OK noob question, what about players doing crypto for pokerstars transfers in the twoplustwo transfer threads, isn't this against their terms also? and posting your pokerstars username there might be easy way for them to ban players?

I'm no (longer) an expert on the PokerStars rules here, so with that disclaimer:

a) If you're deeply concerned with the rules, you should just email and ask them;

b) In the past, they've been typically happy to allow transfers as long as the primary purpose is to allow people to play poker. If you're making transfers back and forth to speculate on cryptocurrencies, that's likely to be prohibited. If you've got some cryptocurrency, and want to somehow get it onto PokerStars so that you can play poker, that's like to be fine.

Given that PokerStars indirectly allows people to deposit to their site using cryptocurrency (the payment processor Neteller provides this service - you deposit your Bitcoin to your Neteller account for a 1% fee, then use Neteller to deposit to your PokerStars account) I think that the vast majority of people* who engage in peer-to-peer transactions to do the same are making very bad decisions.

*I accept that there might be some niche situations where this is not a bone-headed thing to do, but for most people, it is just dumb

What I learned from this experience: Altruism is a mental illness.

I've learned my lesson. Don't help people. I nearly had my PokerStars account permanently frozen and my reputation ruined while I thought I was doing a good deed and giving back to the 2+2 community.

If they hadn't reversed their decision, I would have been labelled a scammer and it wouldn't matter how much I tried to tell people I did nothing wrong, they wouldn't have believed me...all over a $5 transfer!

That's it, I'm done. From now on it will be take take take and give nothing back. It will be all about what I can get for me and to hell with everyone else.

If you haven't already, I'd advise you to e-mail them an apology and tell them that you also received a transfer from nahkaka in the same circumstances. This would probably avoid some other diligent Security guy noticing it at some stage in the future and banning you again for it.

I think Josem has covered this pretty well, but yeah, any time you're breaking the site rules, posting your screen name could mean trouble. But there are many ways to trade funds that aren't breaking the rules, as Josem has mentioned.

I doubt you mean this, or if you do, a little time will have you reconsider.

Sadly, once needs to pick and choose how one helps. Helping a bunch of low post strangers, while very kind of you, appears not to have been the wisest choice, in hindsight. Other opportunities will arise that aren't so risky, and I have faith that you'll take some.

Glad it got fixed in the end.

OP here. My account is still frozen and Pokerstars doesn't reply to my emails asking why my account was closed. They basically took my money and no reply.

How much funds do you have in your PokerStars account?

Post ALL emails to and from Stars regarding this

I've just had the exact same problem and I've also done nothing wrong whatsoever.

No idea what is going on.

I recently won a wildcard entry to a 72 player Platinum Pass tourney too, which is due to run at the end of July.

I've been a very loyal customer, so I am pretty frustrated and annoyed about this.

I have appealed for them to explain their decision and overturn the deletion of my account.
